was supposed to work for a guy today
but he got called to an emergency at church -
didn't even know the guy handled emergencies at church,
what the hell is a church emergency anyways?
Somebody needs the emergency singing of a psalm perhaps?
emergency baptism?
I don't know, anyways, since i was on my bike
I took the long way home,
I may take another ride later this afternoon,
the sun is out,
sky is clear,
temperature is mild,
it's the ninth of december
and this is Tug Hill Plateau for God's sake
and there is no snow anywhere up here -
unbelievable !
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

five day forecast
sixties, near seventy one day
I don't know mary-land anymore
she used to be damn cold 'bout now
I remember working outside
it would be below freezing in october
the warming has made the months I knew
unrecognizable to my experienced eyes
don't know how to think anymore
can't get my bearings....
though don't need freezing cold
to feel normal, I'm happy to adjust
to the new planet, I'm okay
with this old dog learning some new tricks
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

When grey plays with sunshine
dare ya, dare ya more
and rain pours down
mid-highway pond

doc found a blood clot
in my leg yesterday, damn
no wonder I was in pain
so he tells me I have to go
on blood thinners right away
a misnomer for sure, since
they don't thin, they are anti
coagulants, which means you
don't want to crack your head
open on the ice, because you're
gonna bleed out in the snow
what a hideous class of drugs
no antidote for bleeding, jeez
sometimes the cure is worse
than the ailment, but gotta do it
don't want that clot to break loose
get stuck in your lung, so once again
i put my trust in the hands of strangers
let's party baby like there ain't no tomorrow
let's lift a glass, toast the day of the week
dance on hobbled knees, sing like
a an ancient warbler, laugh like a lunatic
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
