The strange mind of a poet
seeking some awareness
distilling the experience
of the race the days run
building a singular craft of language
around about the desire
to go past the voice of conversation
into the mystery of the inner sanctuary
searching for yet unknown illumination
perhaps some lost memory waiting
lingering with the shadows of love in the twilight
a sunlit room years ago
the windows open to the sea
the red colored sand
and salt air
to be there

the strange eyes of a poet
seeing that which others may not
painting a picture with his words
so that others may see his heart
When we speak we are afraid our words will not be heard or welcomed. But when we are silent, we are still afraid. So it is better to speak. ~ Audre Lorde
