4/22/16 - 11:46 a.m.

old man picking trash
from the roadside
plastic bag in one hand
pokestick in the other
pokestick also serves old man
as balance cane for
traversing the steep banks
old man walks slow but
fills his bag many times
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

downtown portland
canning is a sport
and surrvival-
college kid drinks soda
throws it away
man comes and takes all the cans to safeway
everyday is earth day he say
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

It's real... The trade is vast---- I see one man with a bag of cans-
And then two plump and perfect jogging around him
What is wrong with this picture?
He's so used to being ignored
He talks to himself on the trolley
I gave him a soul smile
He smiled back
We both knew
That things are out of whack
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

there is an underground economy here in B'mo as well....saw a lot of shit when I was rehabbing houses...got a solid education about the street....and I mean to tell you I never saw so much creativity....when you are talking about survival, one can get pretty damn inventive....and I met some extraordinary folks in ghettos.....white and black...real characters...from an alternative planet most people don't know about...I'll see if I can dig up my poem. Plato Barnes
and post it....have a lot of poetry about poverty stricken life.....
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

It's like that here too though spread over a much wider geographical area - been like that ever since folks settled here - hope you find that poem - Plato Barnes lives everywhere 8)
