Amen brother Mark
van gogh never sold a single painting
his brother did after his death
I loved being in amsterdam and
standing in front of the progression
of his work to see the madness
creep in, the hand is trying to say
what the mouth cannot, and the only
reason I'd like to be rich is to buy others
art work, there is something magical
about hanging something on the wall
and walking by it day after day, and
seeing something new in the painting
that really is a new you....the painting
hasn't changed, and so I walk the walk
forward and back like a humble seeker
of truth in oil, truth in watercolor, truth
in all the mediums that speak forever
to the man that opens his heart, the mind
always follows and a new piece of art
is born again and again and again
interpreted for each set of eyes, for
every lover looking to know someone
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

I had tears in my eyes at Van Gogh show at national gallery in 90's
All the tourists gobbling up his posters, cards, reproductions
Ugh!

Nuff said.

Derain, Vlaminck, Matisse
These cats could paint
Modigliani and Soutine
Gods of painting
As were Picasso and Braque
I would give it all for a Gauguin
No B.S.
I missed on a Man Ray print
In the 70's
For lack of dinero
I have modest collection of
Paintings, even a "Mingo"
Needless to say I love paintings
With all my soul 8)

lavender and jade
thrown against the canvas
there is magic in projectile paint
there are old souls that tap
the patience of eternity
to give us the details of Picasso's
mind melted like a grilled cheese
the blue horses of Franz Marc gallop
with Kandinsky's fearless freshness
it's all there for the mind to sip
fingers warmed around the mug
my vision changes
in their vision, my spirit elevates
in their spirit, the gifts bestowed
don't just touch the eyes, they touch
the deepest valleys of the soul
the caverns of the heart, the tips
of the tongue, the tips of the brush
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Color control
Keys to the shade
Fauve's took color
a step further

Another brunch
at JoJo's
The daze marching on
Summer beckons
Pools open
AC's pumpin'
Back to the meal.....

days wane
with all the original parts
I treasure moments
of children's smiling eyes
I sink into the laughter
of old chums, the nonsense
that breaks up
the seriousness of the knife
i meditate to female voices
in the speakers 'round my head
I bask in the old rock
than made me a man
I give thanks for the memories
of hearts given, the reciprocal
exchanges that make a life a life
and steel myself with all the tools
to do it all again
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

A tomato is a tomato is a tomato
Not a rose
All the more tasty in season
"Read...read...read..." Werner Herzog says
Driving down Amazon waze
Awakened by the ghost
of Belle Starr winding
her way down echo lane
People taking photographs
of the unseen minions overhead
'Twas a delightful day
Not any of that old
"Get the hell out of my way!"

pensive reflections
an old face in a mirror
who is this guy with blue eyes
where did all these wrinkles
in the script come from
these twists in the plot
that you thought you had read
love feels the heavy air
the combat rages within
the mind steels to battleship gray
details are attended to
just as if nothing is wrong
but I remember at moments
the unwanted hitchhiker
I gather my talents and bundle
them, braid the wires to make them
stronger
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

i drink my coffee
use my chest as a drum
why all this hubbub?
nobody is going anywhere
any different than where they are
not a single day goes by
that don't go by
breathe
eat
sleep
birds sitting on the wires
just before sundown
and just after
watching me roll by
into tomorrow
drums along the mohawk
banjos along the potomac
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

Picasso & Braque
Like 2 mountain climbers
Tethered together
In a quest
To see around things
Drums along the Mohawk
Me fishing the banks
of the Potomac
Watchin the rivers flow

Back home
Wore out from the crazy ride
Sculptures on my mind
Let's se what I can dooooooooooo........
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

leaving now for my pre-op
with a bit of disbelief, there is
a profound disappointment
over all the money and time
i spent trying to be healthy,
next week this time I'll be splayed
open like the catch of the day
and a stranger's hands will remove
defective parts, and fashion some
new parts out of existing parts.
a most impossible task one would
have to think, but someone figured this
out, someone along the line
said, I have an idea....and I agreed
it was worth a shot
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

been spun off along other directions
my imagination seems
at idle in neutral
i can't even curse it
because i'm not mad about it
or either all this rain
coming down
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

jammin' some steel
the kind you need
to beat the war drums
wood won't do, it will
break under pressure
tighten them skins
of destiny, turn the key
to tomorrow and the next,
send the waves through
your entire body, don't forget
the brain, absorb the tribal
medicine from the shaman's
tongue, hear the song
of new beginnings deep
inside each cell, every atom
jam the steel to the tom tom
vibrate like a doo dah man
send electricity in the wounds
cauterize the arteries, dance
on top the stainless steel table
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
