jammed with the fam
yesterday, ate like a last meal
not because I'm going anywhere
cuz it was so damn good
brother sister dad nephews niece
sittin by the pool
with a Mike's hard peach
and a cheeseburger, some
baseball on the radio
nephews daughters splashing
in the cold water, sky and
pool water the same color
we laugh often and hard
my 91 year old dad springs
a playful joke on my brother-in-law
tells him I know you're not two-faced
'cause if you were you'd wear
the other face and we all roar
they have this tight relationship
where they dig each other a little
nothing mean about...all about
the yuks...at 91, still sharp
I stayed all day into night
to feel the love
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Another haunting image
Impressionists and before
Eduardo Manet
A painting that leaves me
with wonder
Dark
Yet that pink endures
Like a pebble in your boot
The bull's triumph
Complete

woke up before dawn
been listening to R L Burnside ever since
the groove rose up
laid ahold of me
here by the river
rolling on
rolling on
rolling on
moving down the page
got nothin' to say
ain't been said before
i walk in
i walk out
got water to drink
& food to eat
a little whiskey now & then
a woman to love
and a hound what howls
when R L Burnside sings
i like that feeling when
the lungs expand
and then when they contract
there is dust on everything
sometimes i fall asleep on the floor
nothing standing between
me & God
on the road to Emmaus
rollin' on
rollin' on
rollin' on

high eighties
low humidity
laundry on the line
dog snoozing in the sun
should be out hiking
or cutting brush
house could use a coat of paint
but ya know what
too hot for that shit
so I guess I'll have a beer
and read my new
Scientific American
instead

drifting down a back road
balanced on two thin wheels
heat piles up on me
like a weight when
i come to a halt
drink cold well water
to keep goin'
i be 65 tomorrow
honest-to-God Senior Damn Citizen
but all i can see from here
is road in front of me
crossing open field then making
a turn at the edge of the trees
to follow along them for a mile
then another turn right into the woods
and the coolness under the trees
been out two hours
and nothing to show for this trail
my capture book empty
all the 'ku hiding under rock
and brush - dug down deep
hiding out from the heat
maybe should have waited
for evening when they all
come out with the fireflies
yeah, that's what I should have done
get back to the house
shower first thing
then sit down here
with a little bourbon on ice
and write this
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

Clickity-clack
Lot of weight
On tracks
Outside flying by
Close my eyes visions
A drop of rain
But inside
Showers come in waves
Outta pennsyltucky
Convergence
Resurgence
Don't bring me down
ELO refrain
Here comes the rain again
80's slick
90's grunge
Millennial
All goes by sooooooo fast
Comes down to a steady movin train
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

got a visit this evening
from the "Law"
or I should say from the DEC
same as the "Law"
all over the trash
in my burn barrel -
ya know what?
it would be easy to make
the rest of this a rant
and that wouldn't be
a jam, now would it ?

it must be goin' round
heat released by the river
on a cool summer morning
coffee a tad weak here
i must not have ground
the beans enough
put that on my tombstone
- "I didn't grind my beans enough" -
my tombstone ain't no way big enough
for all the sayings
i want put on it
i figured that out
years ago
if i was buried under
a 200 foot long fence
that might be long enough

to say anything
ain't been said before -
each day ya don't know if
you're holding a ticket
on the Titanic
or not
yada yada yada
on my tombstone
i want it written :
Post Pic Here
