the chopper interrupts
The Sultans of Swing...
a perp runs deep into the park
lots of thorny greens off the main paths,
hell, a man can get lost in there
when he chooses to, the woods
are like a Foghat, a place to hide...
I make that connection and grin
like a musicologist turned philosopher,
desperately wanting to return
my thoughts to the music at hand,
my mood needs chord structure !
I can read the police blotter tomorrow
if I choose, but why bother ?
another petty criminal "Flees
to the Trees"....and another blues song
is born in the real life drama of
"There Ain't No Jobs Away From Mickey D's "
the clippity cloppity rotor whoooshes
like an Iraqi sandstorm, the battle
is all for show, a little racket from the field
so citizens can make a mental note, like me...
then get back to their poetry, iced spearmint tea,
and boom boxes.....The Lovin' Spoonful.
