On boundless rock and sky,
a mineral tang wafts in desert fire.
Buff tides roll across a lucent sea.
Sear wind sings in petrified planks,
a ’48 flatbed chassis, its tires shiny
brittle in relentless blaze.
Out in the chasm of silent light,
weathered men receded into rock.
Hardship came with blasting caps.
Hard rock fortune lay just out of reach,
so deep they lost all sense of depth.

Re: The Old Mine
Reminds me of the poems you use to write on here.

Re: The Old Mine
Thanks.
Escapism is good sometimes.

Thanks Terry.
This was written out in the remains of the old "Tunnel" site, several miles off Seven Troughs Road in western Nevada-- or at least that's where the notes and images came from.
