nothing is as it seems

the theater of history is a veil of illusion
drawing back now on a cold desolate stage
a puppet clown walks out with a sign
with the word rage written on it
the peanut gallery goes wild
the view pans back and the stage grows
we are seeing scrolls on fire and flood lights
coming in from all angles, falling angels rain down
the orchestra in the pit plays a slow dirge that
accelerates into some kind of din cacophony
we begin seeing a movie in the middle of a
landscape, like seeing the creation of the world
history is on the march, from the center of time
words move across a white film that tell the crowd
this is the end of the world, this is how it ends
people are running down streets carrying signs
but now the sings have the wrong message
where once they were against war
now they screaming and crying that
they don't know what they are screaming
and crying for, the mindless audience
claps madly and fake dollar bills fall from the ceiling
like confetti , the insane music triumphs over and over
clash of cymbal over and over the drums are murder
the crazy clown dances like an Indian, smoke and mirrors
appear in the background, as masonic symbols flash
through fake fog, the audience chants, re-vo-luuuu-sion
over and over, as the orchestra rises to a crescendo
the strange clown removes his mask and his face
is Hitler, and he removes that mask and his face is Jesus
he removes that mask and his face is an alien, he removes
that and you see nothing but stars, the theater collapses in
on itself, the stage becomes a dead machine, the curtain
of illusion draws back and the people exit out the rear
