what the Beats got from the Buddha

Post by revolutionR » November 20th, 2016, 5:51 pm

after WWI came Dada and then Surrealists
it was a natural reaction of the true artists
to the rulers of the world that created wars
all wars are created by them because that
is how they control the planet, that is how
intelligent they are, that is the only thing
they can do with science and religion
apparently, on the other hand Buddhists
did not build tanks and bombers

after WWII we got the wild one but that
was a creation of Hollywood, and to some extent
so were the beatniks, but the Beat poets
were a reaction like Dada and the Surrealists
who did not need to be influenced by eastern
philosophy, or not directly,I don't recall
the surrealists ever talking about Buddha or Zen
but they were deeply into western philosophy
occult knowledge was an important part
of their approach and research, they experimented
with trance like the shamans and Gnostics
Andre' Breton the leader of the Surrealism movement
also was interested in the works of Freud of the time
especially his ideas of the subconscious, his 'Book
of Dreams' because above all Surrealism used dream
but a painter like Picasso seems to be just a natural
extension of his place and times
but all this experiment was going on around him
and his painting reflects that, as does Dali
who talked about what he called critical paranoia

the Beat writers, like Kerouac, Ginsberg, and Snyder
were allowing Buddhist thought to influence them
because the writing coming through in the fifties
needed something that spoke to the understanding
of the human condition, besides the jazz like
improvisation, this is how we got "first thought best
thought" by Ginsberg which sounds like zen
but the surrealists had already said that
in their own way without referring to Buddhism

But while all this was happening the powers that be
were experimenting with technologies that were very similar
psychology and magic and how they can use that to
control us, suffice to say not to liberate us
as far as I know the Buddhists have always been
endeavoring to liberate humankind, is this not what
the words of all the great teachers were about
the words of Jesus and ascended masters
as were the surrealists and abstract expressionists
all the artists and poets that nobody will ever know about
the wonderful musicians like Beethoven or John Coltrane
street musicians and street poets on corners saying truth
no matter if it sounds like gibberish or strange noise
and fellow travelers like the Beats and William Burroughs
who used a method called the cut up technique
to explore synchronicity in his writing style

and that is where things are on one hand you have
the artists and poets the practitioners of liberation magic
on the other the evil cabal the practitioners of magic
for control of humanity, they have science and religion
and alien technology, and or technology we don't know about
this has been going on for hundreds of thousands of years
all the way back to Atlantis and Lemuria

we are still writing poetry, and forbidden knowledge is
still out there, and the Buddhists are still meditating
and there are still a few scattered surrealists and
fellow travelers, maybe time travelers
