Jamming into Oblivion

Post by Doreen Peri » December 23rd, 2016, 9:23 pm

This is the first year, I think, since 2004
(when we originally opened the Studio doors)
that we didn't have a Solstice 'til New Years Jam.
I know where we've been but I don't know who I am.
Maybe we missed it 'cause we need something new.
Happy merry, my friends, to each and every one of you.
.
.
.
V

But, let's not set a precedent.
We are Studio8 residents!
Let's jam here like every year!

Been a rough year
For everyone I imagine
Good reason to Jam!!!
Lay it out there on the land
Blessed be this call to JAM!
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

Many had it rough in twenty sixteen.
Let's jam like it was just a bad dream.

Move on, go forward!
We got a whole lotta more life to live.
Let's get inspired, Wired!

Go!!

So long we've been tethered
Following the jam path
Through highs and lows
Ever onward, forward
Challenging the razors edge
Of the word, yes of the word
First thought word all encompassing
Never turning back
But forward like a on moving train
Steady moving in the early
moving rain>>>>>>>
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

Never drink eggnog and rum
when there's work to be done
the next day. I just stopped by
but that's all I have to say.

heavy straight rain & thunders
already with artificial light
(yesterday we had natural light until 8.30 pm)
I found difficult to slow down
cooking is helping!

c'mon winter
make up yer fuckin' mind
cold
or warm
wet
or dry
but not both
snow turns to rain
powder to slush
then to ice
like broken concrete
damn, let's jam
love these cleats, man
they keep me vertical
so I can walk
while dog runs
sun peeking through the trees
casting long shadows
and by the time
we're back at the car
it's getting dark
time for food
time for jazz
time for jammin in the kitchen
with miles and 'trane
joe z or chick
or maybe jimi
and mahavishnu john
.

These are survival days,
patiently awaiting a new year.
I sleep. I eat. I sleep more.
Reflections of multi-colored lights
enter my room through the window.
I don't like them. I want to take them down.
Other years, I've loved them.

But ... the sun comes up
again tomorrow
and we get to start
all over!
