love over time

watching some older folks that are happy as a clam
i just want what they have so bad= the way they smile at each other

i had to ask
how long have you been married?
30 years....
wow
how did you do that?

i just play hide and seek
scream ollie ollie oxen fre
when finally i get to be me
but that- has never been easy
spent too many years feeling like a freak

i saw my mother at her wrost
they took her thyroid after my birth
she was an actress and a model
i was her first

i tried so many different things
even tried to grow some wings

i tried to blame everything on her
like all children
then i became a mother
had to love her
to love me

now i get to be a grandma- my favorite person
i loved my grandmothers and grandfathers
hollywood confused me

but i did not lose me
i thank the snow
even though i really
could leave tonight
for the starlight in the dessert
on a sea of old folks like me

and my sons =they learned love
and they give it to - women=people children=animals-art-
the earth
love has transformed me
humbled me
i believe in love
