I Think We Should Shoot

yeah, just like that but there is something deeper needs to be addressed - we traded our mythic ideals for the images of dead presidents and here we are
wondering what the hell we thought that would get us - there is a sickness, a disease, trying to deracinate the roots -

The corporate beast... Money is God. Even hippies fell for it. Rappers took it up, but the Machine had to thin 'em out. Sometimes it's the guys wearing 911 who shoot.

They all been a tad trigger happy the past ten yrs -

It's just war, that's all. We love our wars. Even slaughtered hundreds of thousands of ourselves at one point to make sure we were united.

I love the total irony of the poem. where are the gun lovers commentary on this one? (I see " guns save lives ,maybe yours" bullshit bumper stickerI see down here all the time.) The truth is we have a bunch of really insecure men who need something in their pocket to make them feel manly. The NRA are not really accountable for a culture of fear. how about that fool in Texas shot up the utility repair trucks just because " he sort of lost it" Every one I know personally that is into guns in a big way are unstable and paranoid , they will tell you differnt but they are always thinking about that hero moment when it will all come true and they need to finally use that beloved gun, oh how I wish they loved a harmonica instead. How can some one shoot some one they can not even see? You will notice that the NRA has had nothing to say about this.
I can not comprehend how sad this must be for the people who loved this woman .A fine sharp poem.
