raining up here in the sticks
cold and raw
just getting light at 9
got a math problem from an old colleague
he's still in harness
I do it for fun
see what I can do
(find the conic constant
of a hyperbolic mirror
given the two foci...)
but first...
a poached egg
and coffee
black

Ima jammer
Jamma...jamma...w/you
Bob said it
We all bled it
Back in the day
When 24 hour jams were reality
3 or 4 jams right here were a mainstay
Brought my puter to work, just so I could jam
Like red beans and rice
Life on splice
Pushin thru
That old do waka do
One thought leading to another
Do u remember my brothers and sisters?
Wasn't so long ago
Like a perpetual flow....(3:41 am)
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

doin' the woods jam
midday
Hashawa, Bear Branch
need to get centered
been workin' hard
moving dad
independent for 93 years
now ..still
but closer to the family
mobile home
on sister's property
deck building,
digging post holes
fencing
more post holes
that post hole digger
ain't got no gasoline
it's all muscle baby
at least the ground
not too rocky, but
I got the digging bar
for the tough spots
rock and roll, roll that rock
out of the way, jam it down
in the hole, the hole jam
but today is my "off" day
but gotta say
I've been off for a long time
some would say
but today is woods jam day
streams and turning colors
yeah baby, the hike jam
see ya later
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

taking a break
from hauling slabwood
sun is up
warms up a bit
I'll get up on a bike
been having a time with
a chunk of wood here this morning
- not really a slab but
more like a loaf of bread
and just as fresh
had to bring heavy-duty medicine to bear
but that chunk of wet wood has fought me
all the way
even after I got it to char
it just sat there giving off smoke
I finally brought my staff
down on the bridge
and said "You're gonna pass, bitch,
one way or the other!"
now as I sit here keying this
I can hear the fine snap & crackle
coming from the stove out there in the living room
sometimes ya just gotta go BOOM!
to release the sunlight inside the wood
and then go BOOM again in celebration
BOOM !
Hell yeah, Mongolia !
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

sunny and cool today
here in the granite state
three days of rain
soaked the ground
filled the streams
cleansed the trees of their leaves
but, oh, that golden light
that sharp fall air
sweet and crisp as a fresh cortland
so methinks it's time
to don the blaze orange
and dress doggie in same
and see what's shakin'
at Birch Hill
(housework?)
(who the fuck's got time for that?)

dust to dust
we're all made of it
and to it will return
no crime to take it slow
I don't cover as much ground
as the atvs
or the snowmobiles
or even the mountain bikes
but I'll betcha I see more
so slog along bro
savor the slow
let it all soak in
let it fill your soul

my best friend turns 69 today
he and his wife are having this themed party
which is not really my thing, but
since all it involves is the decade
of the sixties, I'll be Ok
with all the tie dye clothes I still own,
the necklaces and radical buttons.
the bandanas and such....main thing
is getting together with these folks
tried and true
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

mathematics -
symbolic poetry
written score
for the music of the spheres
solve for K
given F1, F2
Jim claims all roads he tried
led to a third-order polynomial
but I think he only tried
the paved ones
so let's go off-road -
since F2 is non-zero
let's divide it into F1
and see what happens
for root-K to be real
K must be less than zero
so K minus 1 is non-zero
and we can divide by that, too
plug and chug
a little algebra
and we get a beautiful
elegant
first-order
symmetrical solution
a small gem
amidst infinite abstraction
