Lord that scene in Fistful of Dollars.
Gattling gun mows a hundred soldiers,
to rob the gold, the gold, THE GOLD.
Out in the desert West,
actors tarred, swarthy, cynical,
sex of violence, art of greed.

Re: Fistfuls of Dollars
For some reason you post made me think of Verdun. Tens of thousands mowed down. Oh what a lovely war it was. please pardon my ramble.
Re: Fistfuls of Dollars
Thanks Truck. And Verdun makes me think of ol' Perezozo-- how he ranted one time that "Beatnik insta-verse" was so inferior to, say, journals from Verdun ...
And how did they get all those wads of hundreds so readily? Was there some sort of stolen-gold-for-large-cash vending machine just outside of town or something?
I wonder if Sergio Leone said to himself after directing this "Fistful" flick: "Okay, this ain't bad, but it's a little off, or not the best art I can make, to have this American actor so utterly cynical and dollar-driven-- and even violent and destructive (beyond the gunfight scenes)" ... leading to some slight character shifts for the rest of the trilogy-- Eastwood still after treasure, but not trading in warfare toward that end (and even somewhat disgusted with the mass waste of war)...
Or, maybe not.
