traditional dinner last eve
laughter and friendship
these friends go way back
and our kids grew up together
and now adults, sometimes
they still make it, and last night
they all showed up, and it was yule cool
to see them interacting and the hostess
told me this is the first year, that there was
an equal number of people below and above 35
we used to have a made up club,
it was all the kids and the fathers
and we called it The Blacksnake Club
and we did a lot of camping and
looking under rocks for salamanders
and here they were in all their groovy adulthood
and it was a beautiful thing
and they had their own kids, many of them
and they had their own lives
and I was happy for those little rascals
all grown up....I never imagined these conversations
when the blacksnakes were sitting around the campfire
telling ghost stories
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Merry Christmas Studio Eight
and that magic little elf Doreen
we have this gift not just today
but every other day as well, and well
it's my electronic home, home sweet home
so Seasons Greetings fellow poets
my cyber family and my unique activity
to travel around the world in my pajamas
so here I sit, my desk is my captain's chair
and my rocket is S8....oh man that S8 can
break the speed of sound, and then come down
gently on my sun porch, and my coffee
tastes better exploring this interactive city
my feet in slippers
my mind in space
Merry Christmas....Feliz Navidad....Best of your
special celebrations...big, or small
or alone in your comfy co-created space
you and the hand of the universe
have conspired to build that certain feng shui
and I hope that you all find peace there
as well as here....snap your fingers
and it's gone...be kind....share....love
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

A Merry Christmas
Happy Chanukah
Joyous Kwanzaa
A Festive Solstice (+4)
Season's Greetings
from New Hampsha!
The storms seem to be behind us
the driveway still unplowed
but for the narrow escape route
I just dug out by hand
the newly-reborn sun
proudly displays a woods transformed
attired in alabaster robes
sparkling and gleaming
with a thousand tiny rainbows
the Brandenburgs are playing
the dog has hijacked the couch
wool socks and fuzzy slippers
warm my feet
fresh coffee
my hands and innards
what else
could an old bachelor desire
but peace and contentment
for his virtual colleagues?

Today is the 25th in the snow,
but you can't depend on snow to hide
the fact that tomorrow is the 26th, said
the inspector, you foo-el, and so maybe I
watched too many Peter Sellers movies
over the weekend, trying to figure which
accent he settled on, but that doesn't
mean I'm innocent, not full of candy,
and Cato comes out of nowhere,
Aahhhhh!

Aahhhhh! > So.! :) 8)

maybe I trucked through too much winter
or trying to fool another winter
and live to see another spring
winter makes me feel like a pirate
and life is my booty
winter makes me feel so alive

this has been a good year for me so far
I gott elastic shoe laces and a shoe horn
so now I can wear shoes again.
I got long johns and a balaclava
I am winterized for my bike rides
going to ride my bike again

yes I am still alive after all these years even if I am too old to die young

Winter is a low point in some ways, but always a kind of starting point it seems.. I too am too old to die young, and I'm going to get that bike out when spring hits I swear, or at least I'm gonna roam like I've been doing, on foot...

“The goal of life, for Pascal, is not happiness, peace, or fulfillment, but aliveness.”
how low a point can a body get
in the dead of winter

just grateful for the poetry she wrote, don't dwell much on her death anymore
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
as for me winter is
Yes a new beginning, a feeling of aliveness

Feel like a fortunate son to be living in the Republic of Paradise
winter is so easy in Texas

I don't think I could survive a Yankee winter
with out live oak trees

love that term, aliveness
let's do the alive jam together
let's live as best we can in a state
of being turned on by our waking up
each morning, and the universe open
to serve our imagination in the steps
we take....in the words we read....say
aah yes...it will be a challenge when our knees ache
and our stomach churns from watching the news,
but that's the trick...tricking your own brain
convincing that pulsating hunk of granite
to participate in some small way, yeah
especially for us boomerish types, there is
always some health crisis and legitimate reason
to pull the covers over your head, so how do we
tap into our aliveness on those days, how
do we get a 1966 Dodge Dart to hum like Ferrari,
or even a Subaru...I mean our oil is overly viscous,
and are spark plugs are corroded, and our pistons
have been pissed on by the reaper-in-waiting
and so what is your plan ?....is coffee enough
how 'bout some sativa....indica ?....the dog
needs to whiz ?....how do we keep on...keepin' on ?
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Baby steppin
Be Boppin
Again and again
No way to get around
the health thing
Only courage
gets us through the day
Let's just write bout
The good things
There's enuff of the bad😎
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

Good can exist without evil. Evil cannot exist with good.
Some TV show on PBS might have been 'The Life of Buddha"
"Think this is bad? This ain't bad"
'The Children's Crusade Vonnegut

You feel like a Kung fu tv priest
I feel like a
Sunshine Pollyanna Cowboy
'The Bell Jar' Plath

'If six was nine I don''t mind
As long as I can log in at studio eight and jam
listen to the music in your words.

I need this place the voices here. Did I say this was a GOOD YEAR for me. :?: I suppose it was Except for missing Dino, and Jimboloco.

Dark mostly.
Dark! Snowy and cold.
But I'm not going to hate it,
because it is the path and
I was lucky to find it..

freezin' out dere
the arctic locomotive
rumbles into B'mo
cold steel baby doll
winter jam
icicles on the eaves
inside I got the fire
to heat my jam
warm jelly fella
sweet and long
no sleep last eve
... chi hangin' low
but my mind is ready to go
jam baby jam
jam away the day
jam away the blues
jam til the cows come home
do the livestock jam
alive stock
taking stock
you'll never take me alive
there's jam in the pantry
a song in the box
the bass strings hum
happy creatures
saw a the biggest racoon I ever seen
not in the woods
not on my friend's farm
walkin' straight down Harford Rd.
big and bold and cold
we turned the corner at the same time
he arched his back
sized me up....I'm talking BIG baby
I froze like the morning dew
he gave in....headed into the city
back down the sidewalk
he was jammin' ...Big like I said
never looked back
he wasn't afraid...just uninterested
he chose to fight another day
he was BIG tho
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

chillin' here in NH
no shit chillin'
5 below this morning
snow so cold it squeaks underfoot
so cold the trees crack
like gunshots in the woods
so cold my fingers were numb
by the time I got to
the mailbox
didn't seem to bother the dog
pushing his face into the snow
looking for stuff
deer tracks
fox tracks
coyote, maybe
and rabbits
(hence the coyotes - I hope)
colder tomorrow
maybe 10 below overnight
maybe 10 above by noon
winter, yeah
something about that cold
makes you feel alive
neolithic cold
arctic survival
you just deal
the real deal
feel
the cold
.
