blindsided
blindsided
my computer. my cell phone and my furnace
are co-conspirators
they all decided to commit suicide in the same week
and I gotta tell ya folks
I never saw it coming.....I mean
I thought i knew them, thought they could be trusted
"blindsided" was my second choice
for the title of this poem
the first choice was
" blindsided like a motherfucker "
but I thought that would be too vulgar
maybe artificial intelligence doesn't dig my karma

you may end up where you are heading

I vote for the use of motherfucker. Fuck AI anyways - I'm tired of it's repressive hegemony.
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

Re: blindsided
One of these days I am afraid that I am going to break the poetry board on studio eight with my long rambling posts to a poem I like a lot
.
Main water line was my Waterloo, we got this soil down here the natives call black gumbo
you can't walk in it, takes your shoes off. trencher is useless have to dig a trench by hand about 100 foot of it.
and then there was the water bill for four hundred bucks that I was going to use to pay down my interest laden ass,
thanks for the poem, of a genre I like a lot, the complaint poems
since i on aroll or a scroll, I might as well crazy on it and mention that in trucking "blind side" has a different meaning, has to do with backing in on the blind side of the truck, a thing only the old dogs could do. Only time I was able to do it was in my dreams. And dreams are spooky for truckers. So many of them seem to be awake in your dreams. No words can tell, reminds me of a quote from a charlie chan movie
"where can I find a man who forgets about words and have a word with him?"

Re: blindsided
Same happened to me back in 2014. After years of cobbling my oil burner back together, I finally bit the bullet & replaced the thing. $3500. A few weeks later, my water pump burned out and the tank sprung a leak, so I had to replace the entire water delivery system. Another $3500, please. The very next day I lost my job, my property tax bill arrived, and my oil company made the season's first delivery. I'm surprised the car didn't need a transmission overhaul.

The ever present perils (and outrageous costs!) of living in a physical world of the senses and its continual wages of wear and tear..

Re: blindsided
sometimes it ain't the wear and tear
it is the decisions made
and then thirty years later, the oak tree you decided to plant in the perfect scenic view just happened to be over your main water line.

Re: blindsided
this is what comes of living w/ inanimate things with 'personality'
they seem so charming, then -
all those suicides in one week
they had to be out to fuck you.
my food stamp card and my cell phone
went on the lam the same week
you can't tell me that was an accident
no food money and i can't even call anyone to complain
