The island took 28 + inches of rain
The road fell away from the mountain along the sea along the north shore
People woke up to raging rivers and trucks floating away in the dark
The buffalo from mr bills buffalo farm got loose
Some were out on the reefs Wellington :a paniolo from Kaua’i helped catch the buffalo
The houses were full of mud
The people were happy to be safe
My husband that died : his surfboard-came out from under the house and saved them
His Buddha was in the yard after the water receded
Some houses went down the river to the sea
Everyone’s cars are toast
Thank you Gordon
I know you know how grateful I am
That my Ohana is ok over there
As the tears come out of these eyes
I know your love from a new place now- hugs
My friends are so sad - they lost everything
But they are alive
Fine

Fine
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

Re: Fine
They say that : the island decides who stays - and who goes
That land was sacred
Then 1 million rich tourists came and went
The Hawaiian people are working 2 and three jobs
Because the corporate world is designed
To not give health insurance in Hawaii
Funny how that works
So that north shore is the “ last frontier “
And peel must have said “ aloha”
Because now it will be a whole bunch of construction
Do not go there now
Trust me
Tension is high my niece says
There are no activities- nothing
Send people money
They lost everything
I k ow people for 40 years whose houses slid off the mountain
Pulled out of rivers in the dark
The answer to “ are you ok?”
We are alive
It’s a beautiful place with serious aloha

Re: Fine
The whole north side is getting food and water by boat and helicopters- the Hawaiian road crew is on it already- my niece and a friend from way back- lost thier homes- but they are alive!
Hawaiian life teaches you to love the simple things- like being healthy- I have a whole new idea about horse and boats now- I understand why Gordon always had a catamaran- sail boat - tin boat with a motor- he had everyone riding a boogie board on the end of a rope at blackpot- now the Hanalei pier is in sand instead of water- where did that water go?
That night I painted an angel-
She was over water w/ a big red heart-
I hope she was watching out over my ohana( I’m quite sure of it)
Although I would willingly shovel mud- there is sewage and glass- two kids got staph and boils- kids cannot help- in that humidity with boots and gloves and dirt—
Wow- my Ohana is brave and humble- I love you Kaua’i- you gave me so much-
