toes in the sands of time
a rogue wave crosses my life
like a chance meeting with destiny
and I am immersed in all the possibilities
that come with the long distance rattle
of old photographs and letters, keepsakes
and seashells in a box of cardboard dreams
long forgotten in the ravages of wrinkles
and scars from the razor sharp bites
of the barracudas, moray eels, the
red snappers of ancient love affairs,
the good, the bad, and the ugly truth
of experimentation and shots fired
from the curvaceous hips that lead a man in
and it ain't nobody's fault and no one gets the credit
it's just what people do, one foot in front of the next
one leg at a time as we slip into the denim jeans
of giving it a go
here on this marvelous spinning orb
with few answers and many mysteries.
