Christmas

Post by creativesoul » December 3rd, 2018, 2:46 am

The pumpkins turned into fancy ornaments—
- as soon as the turkeys were all baked and every lasting memory of native life before pilgrims began living here celebrating rape and murder — candy ? melted in my hand ... everywhere like barbrella dressed like an American woman
The smell of coffee and chocolate winning
The best things came around this time
When tinsel wrapping tree murdering in the name of little baby Jesus
There is a guy with glasses on t v that teaches scripture
I cannot stand his voici seek the remote in desperation
ya when that farmer John voice wakes me from sleep

I think of Christmas trees 12 feet tall and all kinds of ornaments and candy canes
Stocking stuff like a set of jacks - lip gloss
The cats sabotaging the balls and batting them accross the room
Convinced they had a hockey team
Chip the dog was the man
Santa Claus was too fat to come down the chimney
To see all the kids in the world in one night
Happy just to bring each child delight
I just want to sleep
I know this endless cocktail party will be over around Jan 2- my father used to pass out in the potatoes- my cousin Richard and I stole valiums from our grandpa-
That is the way it was see; back then it was bob carol Ted and Alice
It was mrs Robinson
It was free love
Passion
And l s d
That helped a lot

Wishing for the days when my mother fretted over the gravy and the turkey
White tablecloths
Beautiful food for one hour

I have been so cold at Christmas
Missing my children
But : they are grown now
With children of this own

In the meantime
Happy holidays
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

it would appear that many people share this dichotomy with the holidaze
of warm fuzziness and for some the counterpart being pain
and i would guess for some even, a mixture of those extremes
the one thing most can't do is,... re-stage that holiday play in ways
that make it all ok...I think the commercialized part of the holidaze
has a huge impact on citizens, as they glob on the sentimentality
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

I'm one of those who's long since turned his back on the holidays
too many unhappy associations
and all that jangling
about buying
spending
consuming
gift-giving as competitive sport
ho ho ho
all so that the retailers can end the year in the Black
black
bleak
blah
a few friends
a solstice hike with my daughter
a goblet of mead
the Brandenburg concertos
quietly welcoming the sun
as it starts its northward trek
.

To me, by now, at this point it's just December, winter and lights in the dark solstice to take the edge off such a precipitous drop off the edge of late summer in early October (really, that's only a few weeks, and when I'm a few weeks out from the end of summer and I suddenly gotta deal with all that Xmas INC. marketing bullshit, then ... cough ...)
