Flute Thing

Post by Lightning Rod » May 15th, 2005, 9:06 pm

This is a tune originally recorded by Al Kooper and The Blues Project
when I heard it, I knew I had to play the flute. It was my first inspiration.

So, I did this version of it this evening.

LR on all instruments

ok, I'm a lousy drummer

Hi LR,

Yeah, perhaps the holy cherub of percussionists forgot to bless you...I mean realllllly forgot to bless you...lol...jk... but nonetheless a cool little track. I think even with the faulty drum work the gist of the musical composition comes through. I've always dug the flute, has such a haunting sound, like if the wind was to really speak, it would sound a lot like a flute. Anyways, thanks for sharing this piece.

i know I have eight thumbs as a drummer

on the other hand, I'm a lot less trouble than many drummers tha i have played with. I should get a drum machine. At least they don't have problems with alchohol or their girlfriends.

Thanks for listening, Trevor

you forgot a "t" in "that"

and you spelled "alcohol" wrong.

lol :P

On the one hand, are you trying to say, Lightning Rod, that the reason your rhythm might be a little, ummm, how shall I say it...? ummm... you know... not exactly *perfect* ... on this piece is because you have problems with alchohol (sic) and your girlfriend?

Or, on the same hand, are you trying to say a drum machine is less trouble than your girlfriend?

OR.... on the other hand, are you trying to say that Trevor is having problems with his drummer or having less trouble with one of his thumbs and more trouble with alcohol than with his girlfriend?

just wondering.

  8)

LOL....tooo funny.....

Well I think I'm starting to understand what you mean when you speak of girlfriend woes LR...lol...jk Doreen...I would never seriously say that publicly.;)

I think what LR was trying to say is the little drummer boy was a pain in the ass because his girlfriend had eight fingers and couldn't hold onto her alcohol.....

Wait, Trevor!!!

The little drummer boy was here helping him with that tune? And his girlfriend had her fingers on him? (the drummer boy, that is...) :?

OR.... are you saying that the girlfriend couldn't hold her cocktail glass while attempting to help the little drummer boy keep the rhythm with her other hand? :?:

OR... maybe you're saying that girlfriend woes are like alcoholism, addicting and offbeat like the song itself and are literal pains in the ass, especially when you bring a third party into the picture, like the drummer boy, who has excellent rhythm to begin with? :)

I must admit I'm a little confused and I'm happy to admit that seriously and publically, also. :!:

Which one of us spelled publicly right? Either one of us? :?:

Thanks for helping me clear this thing up. It's been a long day already trying to sort through mistaken offkey drumbeats, if you know what I mean, and even if you don't, not to mention the woes of public humiliation and private evaluations of various misappropriations of mp3s and such. So, thank you. 8)

Don't mention it. I won't if you won't. :P

What, may you ask, am I talking about?

Off beats me.

No, if you'd listen a little more attentively you would clearly see with your own ears that the little drummer boy killed himself with alcohol because he lost his job to a drum machine after his girlfriend chopped off eight of his fingers for trying to stick an oily rat named Perezo up her arse. Sheesh, some people's kids just don't pay attention

And publicly I will take credit for spelling publically correct ....lol... actually I think both are "accepted" versions of spelling ... though since I'm Canadian and therefore my grade elefen educasion is ekwall two at leased too MSG's obtamed at Univercity levle in Amairika, wheel ghust sai that mined is the carroct won. :P

Pere who? I don't give a rats ass about that little hummer boy. But now that you mention it, Trev, I've been perfectly delighted to waste my entire day interrogating you about your spelling and questioning Lrod (which, btw, is spelled properly even though he thinks the R and the O should be switched in position) about his rhythm. You know, it's a real good thing that we're old people because with his sense of rhythm, if we used that method, we might have some teeny weeny rhythm masters running around this place, all of them attempting to play the new electronic drum kit themselves and what would we do then? We'd have to teach them a thing or three about music and I'm tellin' ya, they'd be better off if we called in Yoko Ono! But you know what they say, whoever *they* are, never bring Yoko to band practice 'cause you know the routine! 8)

Thank you so much for clearing up the drummer boy and girlfriend story! I get it now! Geez... it was like I was makin' stuff up trying to figure the darn thing out! I think you'd be an excellent moderator for the Interpretations forum. You seem to get everything I can't get but then again, I'm not surprised because I have a hard time interpreting the time of day, let alone words and shit like that but you... now YOU... you've got it down pat which reminds me very little of the riddle about why Richard Nixon saw Deep Throat 12 times because he wanted to get it down pat which deteriorates this conversation completely.... so completely we might as well be talking about sex with animals, but as you know, I don't give a rats ass about that, either. :D

*whew* I feel all relieved and everything to finally get some answers. For a while there, I felt like I was sandwiched in between the little drummer boy and Lrod but what do I know about sandwiches? That's another website in an entirely different era.
