transcendental tones and shadows

Post by saw » May 31st, 2020, 9:09 am

I thought I knew red
'til I saw a Scarlet Tanager
showing off on an old fisherman's trail

thought I knew the blues
til I heard Robert Johnson
then read about his sad short life

thought I knew green
'til Van Morrison explained to me
it wasn't that easy

thought I knew purple
til Jimi came out of a haze
with his guitar on fire

thought I knew orange
til the neon flames of psychedelia melted
my frozen cheeks

thought I knew brown
til I saw Keira Knightley's eyes looking at me
in the middle of the night when i paused some dumb movie

I thought I knew all these colors
I was pretty damn sure of it, I mean
I had the 64 count box of Crayola crayons !

the takeaway might be, there is always more to know
so keep a song in your heart and a mind open
for sudden ocean breezes... flying over the space you occupy

and when you can.....soar............. catch a rainbow
slide down that arc with the childish glee of a Chutes and Ladders game ...
right into the bosom of a brand new day.......

transcendental tones and shadows

If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Sight is the new gold, and its colors are a gift.
