imperfect me
wants to help
this world
o' mine
imperfect me
wants to ease
the
suffering
imperfect me
wants to
bring smiles
where there
are tears
imperfect me
wants to
bring hope
where there
are only fears
imperfect me
wants to
hold the world
tight
until it doesn't
hurt anymore
even if all
all imperfect me
can do is help
one at a time...
imperfect

oh my saturday mawnin
comin back from sketch class
where i came in late after the gestures,
sat down in the back in an old stool,
with a flowing metal back and rather ornate legs
yet old with a name scrawled on it in pink paint
and later moved and sat up with it and drew ah so comfortably,
yeah i like being comfortable when drawing
none of this standing at attention,
no an attentive yet relaxed posture's for me,
built for comfort, not for speed,
drawing there on saturday morning with this ongoing group
deja vu flashbacks to my first time in this old town many years ago,
alone, knew no one, found saturday mornings real good,
drawing group with the locals, me almost a bum,
living poor, then made my way up into something
and am back there now, how good it is,
to draw, with the locals again, hanging and drawing.
and i'm driving back and stop at the ball park and buy tickets
for me and my wife for the sundays's game,
then cruise out towards my home,
i stop at the first corner and wait for a green light
and there across the street is a bum, dirty,
"vet will work help please!" cardboard sign,
on a trash bag sitting, reclining, and i drive forward then
come to the next light, turn right,
turn right again, drive back to the ball park,
turn down to his corner,
there he is standing now, talking and gesturing at a waiting car,
i u-turn back, pull up, lower my window, beep, pull out a ten,
he comes up, takes the bill, says"bless you, bless you"
as he drools, backs away, and goes back to waving at the other car.
i drive away, knowing i coulda given him twenty
but the ten came out, and we'll sleep tight tonite

seems to me jimboloco
that it is not so much
how much you gave
but the way you gave it
you allow yourself to see
what others choose not to
you allow yourself to touch
what others pull back from
you allow yourself to hear, to smell and to taste
what others are afraid of
and when you sleep tight
it is because your heart
can be at peace
knowing that you are connected
to all things
to all people
and never alone
not
