ripple dance

ripples dance with shadows
pebbles lie still like my heart
we all have a part to play
in this earthly performance
the actor and his unwitting props
we are here upon this cosmic stage,
together.....only for today

the sun peeks in out out like a game
of peekaboo behind marshmallow clouds
and the quiet is so loud
you cannot mistake its presence
three hours have flown by and humans
are elsewhere and I am left with pines
and oaks and holly, and reflective water

far as the eyes will allow or comprehend
some believe everything slows down
when you experience the horizon
and from my point of view across the reservoir
I believe it wholeheartedly, my heart
my lungs, my brain inch along in this
simpatico tango, nearly imperceptible

almost invisible, but for
the caress of the breeze
on my receptive cheeks.....
it moves the water
it moves the branches
it moves
me
