So There Was a Mild Hurricane Blowing Today

Post by mnaz » December 14th, 2024, 7:26 pm

There was a mild hurricane blowing today
and when I say hurricane I don't really mean it,
but it was enough to blow away the garbage can,
and it kept blowing, necessarily needlessly angry.
But I opened the front door and blasted my music,
Glen Brown's Big Mountain heavy Jamaican rhythms,
like his "Termination Dub," and that did the trick.
The wind said "okay, you win, but I'll be back."

Nice. I've always liked this old rockabilly take on the subject:

It was just a "what-the-hell" sort of joke/fantasy in my head-- the crazy notion that I'd blast music out my door-- heavy duty rhythms and lyrics about vanquishing Jamaica's political and economic storms of the late '70s-- and vanquish an actual wind storm in the process. Imagine my astonishment when it worked!

Amazing selections. I hope our storms pass.

Maybe it wasn't "Termination Dub," maybe this song calmed the storm ... Man, I love that whole disc ...
