Enough, already
Enough, already
Enough.
ICE agents assaulting anyone
suspected of being black -
the President of the United States
explaining how to use the F-word -
his henchmen intoning on Fox
about bake sales in Portland...
Enough.
Shut it off.
Lace the boots
grab the camera
light one up
out the door
into the woods
where the chaos of Life
at least has significance -
where each living thing
is a miracle -
where the small is profound -
where the quiet is holy
and not just a space for noise -
where one can give thanks
for something beyond
the misfortune of others...
More of this, please

Re: Enough, already
The disturbing thing is, half the population of the former United States thinks this is exactly what needed to happen. I agree, lace up the boots, but not like that.
Re: Enough, already
dystopia is a scary place
and above all, that is the intention
those in power wants us all to be terrified all the time
every action and soundbite is scripted to sow fear
So. we can choose between paying close attention
to this awful movie with downright shitty actors
or keep our minds healthy by walking in the woods
we are old warriors who understand the fix is in
If we are to help in any small way
it will be to make a determined effort to appreciate
the glory of all the gifts from nature
and not get sucked down the drain of barbary
don't let anyone tell you its the same as putting your head in a hole
It Isn't !

the death of empathy is the birth of barbarism
Re: Enough, already
Thanks for that, Steve - I appreciate it. I really do.
What's happening all around us makes me angry, but so does the discourse surrounding it - as designed. Little of it is constructive - it's mostly there for the views & likes, and if it inspires others to take action (not them, of course) , well, all the better. Anger can be energizing, but it's exhausting, and over the long haul it's corrosive. I know - anger kept me afloat in the aftermath of my divorce, but months turned into years, and its toxicity took a toll. I'm neither suited for nor interested in becoming another keyboard warrior, and if sometimes I need to step away for a breath of fresh air, then that's what I'm going to do. Full stop. Real truth is quiet, doesn't raise its voice. You can't hear it when everyone around you is screaming.
