stocking cap pulled down, the eyes still able
to see the ground, which I all i care about,
my focus is on the earth
I dwell on rocks and sticks and bugs
I would normally miss if I were to march headlong
into the future, i want reminders that life exists
below the eyesight of men with big plans
an ant carries a giant leaf thirty times his size
like Hercules pulling down the columns in protest
a worm aerates the soil free of charge, has a mission
tycoons can't understand from their hazy penthouse
so I walk unafraid of bumping into a tree
rather I welcome the collision, the impact, the embrace
other hikers do not laugh at me, they know the power
of a hug
they know this man with his hat pulled down low
has come to forest to see the earth one last time
in all its glory, he has come to see life meandering
along the edges of eternity
the edges of eternity
the edges of eternity
the death of empathy is the birth of barbarism
Re: the edges of eternity
I think we who regard woodland tramping as prayer have that sense that, to the Earth, we are no larger than those ants and bugs are to us - and we can barely carry our own weight, much less 30x . We live here at her pleasure and would do well to show her a little more respect than our species has been.
Talkin' to you, Tycoons....

Well stated Roy.....the forest speaks truth that few men or women in high places can grasp....this is the gulf between earth worshippers and money worshippers.....and the sad part is they are willing to destroy the very planet that allows them to accumulate their riches......so in essence they suck in business decisions....yet I keep hearing excuses for this destruction of the earth with lame explanations that they have an obligation to their stockholders.....listen up stockholders !....you're getting fucked !....your investments will disappear along with the DEAD EARTH
