Mystery of the Moving Rocks

Post by mnaz » April 28th, 2026, 2:29 pm

I found moving rocks on a dry lake.
Rocks that moved in the past.
They had smudged trails.

Maybe I saw them in a dream.
I met Ed Abbey's ghost sitting on a rock.
It had a smudged trail behind.

No, they were real.
Scientists obsessed over them.
No one had ever seen them move.

Silly obsession.
It was just Abbey's ghost.
Moving his furniture.

I should read some Edward Abbey books. I’ve never read him. I was thinking at first you meant Edward Albee (whose plays I love), but no!! I was totally wrong, of course.

Desert Solitaire, definitely recommended. (Though honestly, he was kind of a jerk.)
