If you're talking root canal, mine did not live up to the horrific reputation. I wish they'd used a topical before injecting the anesthetic like my regular dentist does; but other than that, it was just an hour or so of tedium, staring at the fluorescent lights. I don't remember what recovery was like, presumably because there's no reason to.
