these plutocrats are not only greedy, they're nuts

Post by saw »

good ole Mark Zuckerberg
is making these specious claims
that all humanity will benefit
from superintelligence ( A. I. )
he maintains humanity is suffering
because humans aren't smart enough
to come up with solutions to our major problems
yet humanity has had the technology and resources
for generations to address these problems
but plutocrats like Zuck interfere with that actually happening
No amount of cleverness is going to make plutocrats less greedy
A.I. thus far isn't making the world a better place to live in...
it's taking away jobs, and fascilitating war crimes and mass surveillance
We don't need A.I.to solve our problems.
We need basic human kindness.
We need justice.
We need ethics. And we need simple human morality.

Wasn't Zuck also the one who predicted that his metaverse would become as much a part of our lives as corn flakes & toothpaste? Got your VR headset yet? I'll get mine as soon as my ticket to Mars on Elon's Starship arrives.

I'm sure brains are an asset for amassing wealth, but amorality is considerably more efficient, and seems to be in far greater supply. And it doesn't require one to question why it's good to be obscenely rich - it just is, dammit. Any idiot knows that. Just look at the idiots who've done it.

In my darker moments, I can't help but wonder if A.I. might be Nature's way of hitting Reset on the homo sapiens experiment. Delete *.*, reboot... And it would be poetically just somehow, to trip & fall over our own imagined magnificence. Earth would be such a lovely place to live if it weren't for the people infesting it.

Reminds me of why I've been a fan of illustrator/activist Steve Cutts. His site:

https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=62538e6f ... R0cy5jb20v

From an interview:
"Humanity has the power to be great in so many ways, and yet at the same time we are fundamentally flawed. I think it’s the conflict between these two that fascinates me the most. As a race of beings we’ve made incredible achievements in such a short space, but at the same time we seem so overwhelmingly intent on destroying ourselves and everything around us . . . It would be very interesting to see where we’ll be in a hundred years. The term insanity is intriguing – it’s almost like we’re encouraged to act in a way that seems genuinely insane when you look at it objectively, but it’s often accepted as normal right now. I think we will have to evolve beyond our current thinking and way of doing things if we want to survive.”
Of course, being an animal rights proponent, he'd frown on my animal abuse (eating meat) and likely roast me for buying a not-so-efficient car as a retirement gift for myself (shame), but we're on similar wavelengths on other phenomena, including (not limited to) the zombifying smartphonication of ever-increasing digital assimilation, our ongoing head-buried-in-a-Screen evolution (de-evolution), plus the obsession to produce items no one really needs or wants, the environmental & spiritual destruction wreaked by the consumer society and the totalitarianism of corporations/corporate domination overall.
