Hey Doreen...was at my studio so I missed Floyd/Waters....it'll be all over the net in a week or 2...However with Margarita in hand I caught the Canadian finale...Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot, Bruce Cockburn, The Tragically Hip, Blue Rodeo and a bunch of other freaks jammin out Keep On Rockin In The Free World....I'm hyped....I love the last song of these fests when everyone comes out on stage and just jams....
I taped the live coverage on MTV (VH1 and MTV did a joint coverage, as they are owned by the same company). I watched for eight hours to see Pink Floyd with Roger Waters (first time in 24 years). From all reports David Gimour and Waters got along, so perhaps they will go on tour. I can only hope.
However, I was pissed that they kept cutting off the performances so the host could talk. They covered Pink Floyd more than any other act, but sadly cut the end of Comfortably Numb.
And the censoring was sporadic at best. Anyone performing rap was censored, though Snoop Dogg did get a motherfucker passed them. What was surprising is Pink Floyd was able to say shit without censors, and The Who fuck.
They could of done a better job, but it was still amazing.
