Go ahead. Talk about it.

i think redoing Charlie & the Chocolate Factory IS picking the good ones.

the story itself underlines the dangers of conformity, the importance of BELIEVING against all odds, the unlimited torque of the imagination.

Well, I donno about remaking mediocre material but they're probably doing that because they were popular products to begin with so therefore, they figure, they'll make an easy buck, as someone else said. It's all about money, right? In some circles. Yep.

I'm sorta looking forward to Johnny Depp in the Chocolate Factory flick, just like the GloriousOne.... Why? Because I thought the first film with Gene Wilder was clever and because I like Johnny Depp.

I often enjoy hearing covers of tunes, seeing plays which I've seen before with a different cast and director, see movies which are redone (if they are good pieces to begin with), etc. ... all because I like to see or hear a variety of interpretations of good material.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph!!!!

If Britknees turns to acting I turn to barfing on my shoes....yet again!!!! She kneeds to be speared for something allright! I see her more as a dumbed down Maryanne!!!! If we're going to cast this mofo let's put Nikki Hilton in the role of Ginger.....she can wear those crack hugging jeans of hers and steal every scene!!!! LOL And for Gilligan.....Pauly Shore or Peewee Herman!!!! Yikes, the bile is rising as we speak!!! :D

Anyway, just having a little fun here at other's expense!!!

I don't like all this remaking that's being done. It's boring and I spend much of the film making comparisons to the original so what be the point!!!!

The only time I really look forward to a remake is when all the advances in special effects can be employed. I rather looked forward to "The Planet of the Apes" remake but.....ugh!!!!

And I am so glad they finally did "Lord of the Rings" up right! Did anyone see the animated versions from years ago....I have them on video and I now have the LOTR trilogy on dvd. I'm waiting for "The Hobbit" now. I mean that has to be done...right?

Oh, and I preferred the remake of "Sabrina" with Harrison Ford over the original with Humphrey Bogart! Should I be shot?

To me the only remake that would stand up to the original would be "The Magnificent Seven". Which was based on "The Seven Samuari".

Yes I saw it, if you mean the version that was done as a high tech cartoon. (the lord of the rings in the seventies)

Bad. not good bad, just bad

Waiting for remake of Forbidden Planet.

The best monster sci fi movie if you asked me.

A canticle for leibowitz would make a hell of a movie too.

I wonder about War of The WOrlds I heard it did not make sense did old Tom get L Ron Hubbard scientology into the plot. Don't see how he can improve on H G Wells. I have read L Ron Hubbard sci fi, it was pretty good for sci fi, but I am not a fan. The scientologists learned how to minupulate the sales figures in the New York TImes, made him look like a best seller (Hubbard) talk about schrodinger's cat, is he dead, seems to be a mystery who is writing the new books. Or I am wrong, but I remember some legal proceedings some were to determine Old L Ron's wave state, had it collapsed?

Yes, still, that's the one, well, there's two or three of them actually. Poor animation that's for sure......but it was their only means at the time. :)
(Movies from the 70's....gawd they always had that heinous music playing. Annoying!!! Ugh!!!!)

There was a pretty little ditty sung by the orcs or whatever tho that is rather apropos to our modern times!

"Where there's a whip
There's a way"

Also, a little more trivia, ( if anyone gives a mouse poop! )....Glen Yarborough sang some of the music in that movie! Beautiful voice that man has!

poor 70's animation? that was Ralph Bakshi's work, which i still consider to be utterly cool, and ENDLESSLY preferable to the CGI pranks that are being pulled on us today.

oh bohemian sister here I go with my gildna radner schtick

Ralph Bakshi's
maybe so, seventies animation yes there was a new wave, what was the movie, not fritz the cat but he might be the one. very different animation, and a lot of leather.

are we talking about the lord of the rings versian that used lived actors and morphed overthem or somethin and the movie seemed like a lot of dark figures constantly slashing at each other, it was ok but not as beautiful as New Zeland.

Yeah ten four on the lyrics, I always preferred the hobit to the rings. the road goes forever onward, becare full my uncle used to tell me, you set your feet on that road one morning, and you never know (paraphrased from memory) the best disease I ever had was German something, looked like hell, but felt good enough to read, read the hobit in my twenties. a long time ago, but it stayed with me. I used to work with a painter who had sniffed a couple two many gallons of it. Made a whole other world out of it, did you know there is an opening in the north pole that leads in to middle earth?

a-yeah, that's the one. he painted overtop of filmstrips so that all of the characters had totally organic movability. his version of LOTR was and still is incredible work. yeah, new zealand blew me away, i loved what they did with the shire and how martha stewarty the hobbit hole was, but Bakshi's black riders are WAY scarier.

other brilliant Bakshi gotta see's...

or can'tcha just see a remake of Casablanca?

Who could fill Bogey's shoes?

I think Nicole Kidman could cover Ingrid Bergman's part.

Would we see Stevie Wonder or Alicia Keys doing As Time Goes By?

How about David Spade in the Peter Lorre part?

some of that bad animation that was spoken of...

Image

you might note that this has been done in blue ink. not in pencil, and not with computers. it's done on hotel stationery, and composed of pure talent.

i don't think that's bad, i think it's bad-ASS.

ok, casablanca...

in my ideal world, the obvious choice for bergman's character would be isabella rosselini. for bogey... i dunno... warren beatty?

but personally, i need more than just actors. i need a whole concept. the STORY is the point. time-jump it into now maybe, americanize the war, make it OUR world.

...stevie wonder... hey, not bad....

isabella rosselini, great thought. What a lovely woman, as was her mother. She may be a little old for the part though. But I think you are right. To get this thing produced we are going to have to show the studios an update. Maybe if we call it Barhain or Abu Dhabi.

I just can't imagine who could fill Bogey''s shoes, Cage or Cusak?

nice pic btw

but the story's the point.

you don't cover 'new york state of mind' to fill billy joel's shoes, do ya? you reinterpret it, filter it thru your own voice, bring something all your own to it. because it means something different when YOU sing it. because it means something different when it's sung TODAY than what it meant THEN.
