Definition: A nickname sometimes attributed to the Hogan Assessment Systems suite of inventories and reports.
I used to believe in Santa Claus. Every Xmas I would ask Santa for a job with Yellow Freight. Not just a job, but a job with twenty years seniority. Then one year Yellow called me in for a job interview. But they told me I would have to take a Hogan test. I didn’t know what it was, I thought maybe it was some kind of road test. Before hiring someone, wouldn't you like to know if the person is easy to manage, strives for success, works well with others, builds good customer relationships, follows through on assignments, offers innovative ideas, and thoroughly learns your business?
Before investing in the development of employees, wouldn't you like to know more about their strengths, weaknesses, potential, preferred learning methods, perhaps even their core values and motivations?
Well I was not worried because:
.”“I been warped by the rain, driven by the snow
I'm drunk and dirty, don't you know
But I'm still willin'
Out on the road late last night
I'd see my pretty Alice in every headlight
Alice, Dallas Alice
And I've been from Tucson to Tucumcari
Tehachapi to Tonopah
Driven every kind of rig that's ever been made
I did not get the job because I failed the test. It was a True/False kind of test. Three questions I remember I got wrong.
I answered true to them
1) I know how to use a microscope?
2) I know why stars twinkle?
3) People can often feel my power?
