I wrote this a while back -
Belief

Belief is acceptance in another’s experience.

If we blindly accept another’s experience as being our own, we fail to validate that experience, and merely continue to wag a tail that is not our own, simply mimicking another’s words that may or may not fully translate the experience, thereby weakening said experience into vacant explanations of an experience that has already become the past, therefore construing a past as being presently a belief that in reality that has become no longer valid within its own right. We subjugate our own possibility of attaining our own experience thru the shortness of explanations thru the limitations of a language that pales to experience itself.

What to do?

If our insistence in believing persists, we may find ourselves disbelieving our own experience when the experience occurs within ourselves and mistakenly refute that experience as being something that we may define as true, because we have resolutely established the belief as being our own, whereas the experience is our own, and therefore is true for our selves. So we are left with a conditioning of doubt because of our faith in a belief that belies our own experience and we fail to find adequate explanations of such experience within our own language shortcomings, and dismiss our own experience as being untrue, and continue to accept the belief of another.

In so doing we consciously (or subconsciously) prove our own worth in experience as delusional, thereby forfeiting our worth as the individual that we are possible of achieving if we were not so engaged in (again) belief systems that have become icons in another’s individuality.

So what may we surmise from this?

To assume the beliefs of another may be just an adjunct to further discovery of ourselves and not a stopping point in the endless journey of what, why, when, and where...for the journey is just that, a journey...which is what we are ultimately all on, and whether we accept this as a belief or a truth is of no concern to anyone but our own existence, if we simply stop and smell, the experience will satisfy the inner us without regard to a belief or not.

Attainment becomes another level of which to enjoy the mystery of existence... to see with a new perspective, to sense with heightened awareness that which further reveals our own individuality...and it is with these new eyes that we perceive of these mysteries thru the peacefulness of being just what we are.

:D how did you find that so fast? I believe clay when he said the world is a sloppy place. That is the way it looks from here anyway. But that's probably due to my housekeeping. I spend half my time looking for things
I believe nothing
I think it was Tacitus (fuk history) who said, "Beware the man of one book." A good book to beware of is The genealogy Of morals Do you believe in experience? "As for experience, who has time enough for that?” Nietzsche

She can't hide it.

3. If any country, group, religious sect or individual threatens America, we must kill them.

When someone threatens me, can I kill them?

4. There is no need to search for answers as to why some overseas do not like us. We should not care.

Maybe that's why some overseas do not like us. We should care.

8. Anyone breaking into my house deserves to be shot. Regardless of his habit, social background, ethnic group or even if his family is hungry.

This guy likes killing people.

9. Every nationality which denies an American; services, land rights, home ownership or the right to work should be treated by those same rules in the USA.

Judging one person based upon the actions of another who happens to come from the same country? Am I reading this right?

11. That no minority in America has the right to refer to White Americans in a derisive way (honkie, cracker, redneck) any more than White Americans have the right to refer to people as; Niggers Gooks, Greasers or Rednecks.

I personally don't find Cracker to be offensive. A lot of people find Nigger to be, and they have every right. Speaking of racial slurs, have you ever heard of a white person being called a Powdered Doughnut? Is that just detroit?

12. If you desecrate my flag, I have the right to show my "political dissent" by kicking your butt.

Or maybe killing me as well?

14. The Boy Scouts are allowed to keep homosexuals out of the camp site.

Damn homos; they obviously what to take over the Boy Scouts.

15. Michael Jackson is a serial molester.

So much for innocent till proven guilty.

18. If you are high on PCP, the police can beat you till you stop resisting.

Or maybe the police should just shoot them.

20. If you go on the internet and advocate the killing of Americans, including our military personnel, I have the right to beat you to death if I meet you.

Once again...

21. John Kerry could not carry the C-rations of a real warrior.

In fact, I don't that John Kerry ever was in the military. We should kill him.

22. We have every right to call our country America and don’t care if the rest of North and South America do not like it. You are two hundred years late.

So the rest of North and South America was formed in 1976?

23. That dope dealers deserve to be shot.

Oh, that marijuana. Its the devil's drug.

24. No illegal alien should get anything but a trip home the first time and substantial jail time the second.

Perhaps we could just shoot them. Anyway, why should the US's citizens' taxes support an illegal alien. Wow, the logic is overwhelming.

25. If a foreign country starves it’s own people, we have no legal or moral obligation to feed them, but we may arm them to rebel if it is in our interests.

Hooray for exploitation!

26. North Korea should be allowed to wallow in it’s own crap until it’s own people rise up and kill the leadership, then and only then should we help them.

Again, Hooray for exploitation!

29. Germany and Japan will never overcome their past crimes and should never be allowed to debate a right to permanent status on the UN Security Council. That France sits there was a favor and the French should never be allowed to forget it.

Damn French! I'm going to go eat some Freedom Fries now! Don't even mention those Germans and Japanese. They should be shot!

32. Any woman that would put up with the shame Bill Clinton brought to the Presidency and her has no right to even think of being President. You can’t deal with your own problems.

??????????????

33. Jane Fonda, Tom Hayden, Ramsey Clark et al were traitors and should still be in jail.

ARRRR! Those traitors! Speaking of which, Tom Hayden lives about 30-45 minutes from me.

34. Universities are for learning and if someone, professor or student, tries to turn it into a political entity, all public support should cease.
Tell that to the ROTC. And students/professors: Its called freedom of speech, shithead.

36. You come to America, swear allegiance to my flag and then claim you are really English, Thai or whatever, your citizenship should be revoked and you should be sent back to be "who you really are".

Difference between racial and national pride.

39. Marriage is between a man and woman, there are no "alternative life styles", only abnormalities.

According to one religion.

40. There is no debate, we are allowed to own and bear arms.

Last week there were two fatal bar shootings in Detroit. I don't advocate not having guns, but there needs to be more restrictions. At least one person a week is shot here.

41. If I am participating in a legal activity; smoking, praying or just looking at two gay caballeros kissing and you touch me, I have the right to break your arm.

Or kill you.

42. The fighting capabilities of our combat arms are too important for our military to be required to allow women in. Besides it remains against the law.

Damn Wimmin!

44. Stalin was every bit as big a criminal as Hitler.

Yes, everyone knows that. In fact, he is considered to be the worst leader in the world.

45. Any American who works his butt off has no requirement to "share the wealth" with those not so fortunate or motivated.

Au revoir, middle class!

50. Richard Nixon had more class than Bill Clinton and resigned.

Richard Nixon was my childhood hero. Who wouldn't want to be like him. He had so much class.

51. The French lost the high ground on challenging U.S. "interfering in the internal affairs" of any Nation by their actions in Canada, about Quebec.

Except it was a French colony. Is Iraq an American colony?

52. The left in America may owe Vietnam something, but the rest of us do not. We gave them fifty-eight thousand of our best.

How much did we take?

53. You never bring democracy by investing in Socialist States. You only allow them to stay longer.

No, we should nuke them.

54. The only thing Ron Kovic, Bobby Mueller and others terribly wounded in Vietnam got was an unlucky break and have no special insight into the morality or politics of the war.

Yeah, war is just an unlucky break.

55. Only the Enlisted Infantry Soldier or Marine truly knows the day to day hardships of war and the human cost on both sides.

Thus, no one else has any right to hold an opinion about war.

56. Jenkins, the defector to North Korea should have been dealt with in the harshest way.

I.E. kill him.

57. The glorification of POWs must stop and those that fought on to the last bullet and prevailed, held up as examples to be emulated.

POW's, who cares about them. The dead are much more important.

60. Any media person who enters the enemy camp should be given no consideration when the military targets these instillations.

Just kill all the reporters. Its easier that way.

61. Any American, who slips into the enemy camp to support their efforts, should be targeted as the traitor they are.

Yes, in fact, its called treason! The only crime mentioned in the Constitution. You need two witnesses, and then you kill them.

62. There is a new world order; we won.

????????

63. Our longest war deserves more space in High School textbooks than Jackie Kennedy, the Space Program, bra burnings and even Martin Luther King.

I have never run across a textbook with Jackie Kennedy or bra burnings in it. Martin Luther King JR. is one of the best things that happened to the US.

67. The next time Jesse Jackson takes off on his own to interfere in any foreign problem or hostage negotiations, he should be arrested upon return.

Jesse Jackson seems to get a lot more done in the world.

69. JFK died at the hand of Oswald and the myths of the left about JFK planning to pull out of Vietnam are just that. Nobody loved and used the dark arts better than JFK.

Of course, Mr. Smith knows all about history.

76. No author should write a book on war or a specific battle without talking to all ranks involved.

In fact, just ban books in general.

78. We do our children a disservice by teaching English as a second language.

Let all the immigrants learn the world's hardest language by themselves.

79. Rap is not music.

Now Mr. Smith is a music authority.

81. The next time young Koreans start demonstrating against us, we should start withdrawing troops.

Well, as its partly our fault Korea's in the shape its in...

82. Most of Eastern Europe has a greater appreciation for America than our traditional allies, especially the French and Germans.

Everyone should bow before the great AMERICA (not North or Sourth)

83. Old people know more than anyone and remain a largely untapped resource.

No one ever talks to old people. I don't.

86. Police on horseback exercise better crowd control than motor officers or those on foot.

I love it when people act wise when repeating common sense.

88. AIDS is at it’s primary source, a self inflicted wound.

No one should ever have sex again.

89. A child accessing internet porn has inattentive parents.

Parents should watch every thing their child does, for they may see some one naked.

91. Swift Boat Veterans and POWs for Truth, told exactly that and those like Kerry and his VVAW "Band of Brothers" were lesser men than they will ever be.

We should kill Kerry and the VVAW!

93. They know more about being an American in Rainelle West Virginia, Kokomo Indiana and Akron, Ohio than most folks in Washington DC.

Washington D.C. isn't really part of America anyway.

94. If you marched against my war, burnt my flag and besmirched my good name, you owe me and all like me an apology.

Cause opposing a war is the same as opposing the military. (If you march against MY war?)

97. If you do not like our President, in a few years you will get another chance, but if you are from another country, you have no say.

Unless you are American, than you can fund and equip revolts in other countries that don't agree with you (only if the outcome is in your favor).

100. Our forefathers meant exactly what they said in the Constitution and need no interpreters, unless English is your second language.

Except they didn't. This pisses me off more than any of the other little maxiums of stupidity. It was written over 200 years ago! There are "Amendments" for a reason! This is why history is important. The founding fathers hated tyranny, and thus modeled a framework for a government that would not become one. They left it to the people to decide! Thomas Paine would be rolling in his grave, if he had one.

LR I used to have a lot of respect for you, but I been wondering how you could consider stilltrucking to be a goto kind of guy. But anyway, once in a while I think he asks a good question, I maybe imagined it but I don't see it here anymore, maybe I am blind. Doreen said she believed in love, he asked if you belive in experience, kind of a dumb question, cause love is an experience and I know you have experienced love. Believe me still trucking is not on his way to dc next spring to kick in your door and trying to carry off doreen. I know that rascal well, he may be crazy, he reads to much homer, but he is very gratefull to you for the happiness you have brought his sister.

Nietzsche philosophizes with a hammer they say, and I will always hammer at you as hard as I can.

don't me I just got the lovesick blues

Perhaps e-dog will leap in here, barking with tail wagging.

That would be a salutary thing, in my view.

I include the following link because, as our "President" contends, "We are a Christian Nation" (May 14, 2003).

Since this country does continue to buy into Christian faith in a fairly big way, I thought adding this traditional Protestant, Bible-based argument ( sermon) might add some ingredients to this discussion.

As usual, we find the whole argument based on "unassailable" notions, such as the assertion that Jesus is "the King of the Universe."

But the subject of belief and faith is treated here. Atheists beware
( as well as Muslims, Jews, etc.,etc.).

The kind of arrogant "America First" madness of the Major's ( above) is only implied, not explicitly stated.

( I put a warning label on this link already, but please, don't anyone assume that what is promulgated on this website amounts to my personal belief, or for that matter, is even remotely near my own beliefs.

Carl Sagan's metaphysics is more appealing.)

boho - enjoyed your commentary very much! very funny stuff, my man, very funny... and perceptive. TY

Z - I 'believe' the Christian Nation that Dubya speaks of is truly 'his nation of believers'... his voting stock. It's a shame that a country such as ours has so little insight into its own spirituality (not that the shame wouldn't include the Muslim right as well...), one that I think was pretty well hammered out during 1776 by the founding fathers. An interesting link... one that I will rather enjoy delving into a bit more. TY

Yab - anarchists must have the symbol tatooed upon their chests before they are okay.

Fuk this shit, go ahead, hijack clay's post. Let us go up against the sicilian when death is on the line.
I believe nothing

this ain't about our president of good and evil, who by the way is now warning us about dark forces

Not that it is not a very very interesting discussion, but

In my humble opinion this ain't about that, this is about Clay who I owe my life to right now, this is about Philosophizing with a hammer, and we owe it to clay to hammer at him with all our intelligence. so I disagree Very much if e-doggy is going to be much help unless he is going to speak from experience, and who has time enough for experience.

e-dog no disrespect please, but we don't need any lectures right now herr professor, but I would love to read a poem right now, especially if you write one for our dear friend Clay
