When will the Dems who voted for war meet with Cindy? Poll
by Gator
Thu Aug 11th, 2005 at 09:44:53 PDT
John Kerry
John Edwards
Hillary Clinton

...and quite a few other Democratic officeholders cosigned Bush's bullshit story on Iraq. When will they approach Cindy Sheehan and talk about their support of Bush's fantasy other wise known as a "Noble Cause."

As big tent democrats we need to hold our own accountable.

Gator's diary :: ::
Bush is responsible for this war in Iraq. I hope Cindy Sheehan gets her moment with Bush and makes him look the fool he is.

I also know some Dems who need to face the music also. I hope Cindy and mothers who share the same loss as her don't have to go looking for them.

Yea, In My Honest Opinion.

Good point about Hillary. Last I heard, she still thinks the war was a good idea.

As for Kerry and Edwards.... remember that they were led astray by Bush's trumped-up rhetoric along with everyone else. They have since (correctly) realized that this war was unnecessary and sold under false pretenses, as more facts have come to light.

I just finished reading your post on creative. Resisted the tempation to reply. Virgin snow comes to mind. Not wanting to leave tracks on virgin snow.
Maybe sometime you might want to consider back tracking in winter. That area you been writing about is a different world in winter. Snowqualmie, Immigrant pass. strange feeling to drive in a winter storm. No where to hide, just got to keep going.
I-84 in winter, how I dreaded those mountains.

Yes it is true you could say that Hillary was fooled. But 21 democratic senators voted against the war. I think many of the ones who voted against it saw through it. People who you never heard of, Sarbanes, Mikulski, and so on. Robert Bryrd the racist from WVA voted against the war. Hard to believe that there were not people talking about the cooked intelligence. Hard to believe the word was not out, bogus. You can blame it on Bush leading them astray. But deep down in my heart I believe they knew better. Washington DC is a town of gossip and leaks. I think they had their sources at the CIA. Hell I don't know. Kerry said he would still have voted for the war even if he had known there was no WMD's. Just hard for me to belive that those who testified before the 9/11 commission were not saying the same thing before the war. But I don't know. I am waiting for the feces to hit the fan. My only satisfaction is that fifty years from now people will curse his name. And he will be firmly installed as the worse president the United States has ever had. History will judge him.

Aw Hillary is an empty suit just like her mainstream dumbocratick philandering hubbie Billyboobs.

She will position herself towards the center, essentially as a "conservative progressive." What should really be hillarious is when Hillary gets to debate Katherine Harris, is ever, as Harris is touting herself as a "progressve conservative."

Do you really think that Mrs Billyboobs was fooled by the run-up to war mockery? we weren't fooled. Was anybody here fooled by the scripted scenario that led up to the invasion of Iraq?

Kerry also, damn him, positioned himself in the most servile sort of way on the matter.

Fuck em all.

We should be focussed on the dunce man his self, as he is the point man for this charade, 'tis stupidity made manifest by the lemming like willingness to conformity and the breakdown of that lemming like conformity has got to emerge through the people ourselves, not from these pandering so-called "liberal" empty suits.

RAW used to call Bill Clinton "the hillbilly with a perpetual hard-on" :P

Jimboloco is right, fuck 'em all. They're all a bunch of shills for the military/industrial complex up on capital hill.

(Katherine Harris? oh, please say it ain't so, jimbo!)

I would personally like to see Laura Bush be a good christian conservative, and extend a bit of southern hospitality to her guests in Crawford. What a couple of hypocrites she and chimpy are.

Hey Big Margarita,
my favorita
isn't it a pity?

Now good old Maxine Waters down by the Riverside south of Oceanside is a right on babe, she de one who outed the CIA and crack cocaine into LA streets, opposed the Iraq War, my goodness, why can't we get her some political empowerment?

I hitchhiked by your community in the summer of 1980, got a ride out of Oceanside, strandd there, with a cat driving a stolen car from Colarado, just a joy ride on his part, he wanted to go home, left me and a hippy wman hitchhiker at a club in Oakland where he dumped the car, ma and her slept on the ground out back, next morning she got on a bus, and I walked thru Oakland into and thru Bezerkley with my dog Popeye, man,

welcome!~ sic 'em!

Well, latest polls out, fromk my underground above ground community radio station news this morning, www.wmnf.org , is that Harris is running behind the incumbant, Senator Water-down Bill? Nelson, I can't even remember his name, mercy, he voted to continue with development of new nukes, voted for the war, a fence sitting amoeba Dumbocrat, and so the new talk is getting Joe Scarboro into the muddied fray, he has the talk show on MSNBC, conservative former 4 term congressman from the redneck riviera, northwest Florida, gees,

that Kathryn Haris, did you see her on tv, she acts like a c ross between Joan what's her name,?, the scary mother, Crawford (what a coincidunce?) and Condi herself. Yes she struts, flashes smiles, my gawd that smile, Image

Our government has settled into a sustained culture of denial and illusion. If they don't want to talk about Karl Rove's treasonous outing of Valerie Plame, they just refuse to.

And if they wish to cling to the illusion that we are having any semblance of success in Iraq, a character like Cindy Sheehan is very inconvenient. They don't even want to admit that she is there, because then they will be forced to confront the reality that we are in a pointless quagmire with respect to Iraq.

So, instead of doing the decent thing and answering a few questions for the mother of a dead soldier, Gdub takes a bike ride and says, "I think the people want the president to be in a position to make good, crisp decisions and to stay healthy," he said when asked about opting to ride his bike instead of meeting with Sheehan. "And part of my being is to be outside exercising."

So while the president is out playing Lance Armstrong, gas prices soar and mothers mourn the deaths of their sons and daughters and our pitiful puppets in Iraq try to fit into a Halloween costume that says 'democracy' on the front.
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

Stilltrucking....

I have a renewed sense of awe for the ceaseless compulsion of motion which drives the trucking industry after I made it across that pass, (Immigrant Pass?), the one which connects Netherworld Idaho with Otherworld Utah, last December. I got caught in near-white-out conditions at times. I had to lock the hubs and hope for the best. Your description is perfect.... "Nowhere to hide, just got to keep going". I saw one overturned rig and several jacknifed rigs, yet the truckers kept trying to pass me on the left....

I'm not so sure that everyone in DC from all points on the political spectrum had access to the truth about cooked intelligence. From what I've read, Bushco, in effect, commandeered the Pentagon and fired the CIA when it set up its secretive "Office of Special Planning".... the exclusive, tightly-controlled neo-con spin factory, from which all those trumped-up speeches about Iraq's immediate grave threat to the world flowed so efficiently. Many ex-Pentagon officials near this process have come forth to shed light on it since the beginning of 2004.

This is why I view a politician's current position on the war as more significant than his/her initial vote. On this count, Hillary fails, in my estimation, but many others have, by now, come to understand the Bush Administration's ill-advised power-play and deception.

certinly, I agree, the senater with whom I corresponded during my travail nside the air farce, while resisting and getting out, from jan to june, 1972, was senatre McIntyre of new hampshire, initially a vietnam hawk, he became a solid in opposition to the vietnam war and voted for the church-hatfield amendment to cut funding for the war.....

one can only hope, yet who among the providentiallty successfull senatorium is broadcasting an active dissent?

nada

we got some real great congressional reps, for sure, like kucinich, maxine waters, john conyers, cynthia hawkins, yes, but not the big guns in the so-called opposition. one can only hope, and the hope is there, why we have these public dsplays, and communication, to build a movement that causes the more powerful politicians to listen. in limited terms, yes, frustrating, yet we gotta believe that ultimately the american people are the power, when who knows?

The difference between Iraq the anit war protests of Vietnam is the draft. Just not much going on with the young this time.

Zlatko I am sorry to hear about your friend who was injured by the cop during the anti war demonstration. A police riot. DC had a lilly white police force back in the seventies, mostly recruited from the south. One of the things we were trained to look for was cops trying to hide their badge numbers. (some would put bits of black tape over them.) we would call it in on our radios. Pretty peaceful demonstrations in DC except for some broken windows.

Mnaz the first time I saw those mile marker signs going up about 15 feet in the air I could not understand why until I saw the road in winter.

DP last post, this one bothered for some reason. I did not mean to frigthen you. The picture is called "A portrait of Danny Shapiro" a gift from jitterbug. He found it in a yard sale. It is an oil on canvas the only piece of art I own. Jitterbug gave it to me as a joke he thought it was so ugly. I have had it about five years. He does look kind of ghastly. But I don't know much about art. Going back to freedom hall. Just post to myself. This place is not for me. Not a creative bone in my body. I wish you well.
