I am the monkey

Post by rhino » August 23rd, 2005, 1:58 am

I am the monkey

I am the one you ignore
until you want a laugh!
When the lights go down and you are gone
I am still the monkey

I am the monkey
In the dark I may smoke a cigarette
I may have a sip of my favorite gin
I
mayscratchmyass
I remember the time you said you'd be right back
Don't fall asleep! I'll keep it short and
We can spend the rest of the evening
together - sundown, sweet-wine, our time, musky scent
irreverent
Now,
I don't go for that accordiontincuphaveagreenbananashit
and you can
shine my quarter!

Hairy tail, bare butt, wet nose, funny ears...
Did I say monkey?
I'm sorry,
Meant Donkey!

I wrote this a long time ago, and it remains one of my favs

Hey rhino! Great to see you here! Welcome!

If you just came in here and said, "I am an ass," it wouldn't have made much of a poem, would it?

But that's not what you did.

You wrote a whimsical poem in order to admit it. :P

But you're no ass! No no no! You're no monkey either...

You're a writer! ;)

Love this piece! It's one of my favs now, too!

I love this line, especially...

"I don't go for that accordiontincuphaveagreenbananashit"

Monkey see, monkey do. Neither do I. ;)

Hope to see you here more often!

Arcadia, it’s all a matter of perspective. I played the fool to my ex-wife. She played me like a carnival monkey, until I found out I was just a jackass

mousey1, I’m glad to give anyone a smile, and glad to be able to laugh in the face of pain

doreen, to call me writer is one of the best complements that I’ve gotten in quite sometime, thank you
