2012 and the coming Magnetic Storm

Post by lovingpenfull » August 30th, 2005, 5:37 am

Has anyone else heard much about the supposed coming benchmark year of 2012? Anyone familiar with the ideas surrounding this? There are many. I am interested in this because it is irrational and sensational and there are little facts: Mayan indians in central America thousands of years ago had a celestial calander equal to ours nowadays in priecision, and the end of that calander was what translates to our year 2012. There has been a lot of ballyhoo about it being the end of the world, or the end of this age, or what not, in the 'New Age' communities and others. Some of these folks also point to facts concerning the life cycles of our earth's magnetic field and something called base resonant frequency. I don't understand the science of any of it, if it is legitimate, but the gist of it is that this 2012 may mark a natural point at which the the magnetic field flips on itself. This, factually, is currently happening at an exponetially increasing rate. If this is to continue it might mean that there would be a lot of cosmic rays allowed into our atmosphere, only 'briefly'; that's geolodical time. This is where the New Age folks begin to point to the Bible and other sources and to claim this is the basis of the Christian idea of redemption, being saved, and of judgment. If you are an elevated being, emenating love and at piece at some fundamental level, you'll somehow not be affected by tons of cosmic radiation, while the negative people, mad slaves of our deviant culture, will get radiation poisoning and become fertilizer for the good people's crops in the new era of paridise. There are also a lot of other connections made with other doctrines. How about it? Should this far out scenario ought to just find its way into a novel and then be forgotten, or is this a posibility we may entertain for a few minutes. Either way, I am waiting for 2012, something's going to happen, if even just the biggest party Guatemala's ever seen.
I am looking for a home for my thoughts.

Yeah me too, celebrate my seventy first birthday. I can hardly wait until 2012. I think I saw a NOVA show about the magnetic poles flipping every 30,000 years or so. No idea what that means or what the implications are. I am still recovering from the millenium bug.

Hey Beard, how's life in Eastern Europe somewhere with that picture! I like it. Yeah, man, the whole world is going to glow, that magnetic field is a sheild in effect and it keeps all that cosmic depris out, and so we'll have some respite from all this radioactivelessness we are currently enduring; Chernoble in every hamlet, village, town, city, country and truckstop...Maybe we can open up bases under water, finally get those cool glass dome cities beneath the waves, either that or grow gills; it's a bright future ahead, scorching and blindingly bright, fatally bright with a slight green huge about it all...but maybe not

Ahh, yes. December 21, 2012. The last Summer solstace. The end of the Mayan calandar coinciding with Terrence McKenna's Timewave Zero theory. The reverse big bang. The Christian rapture. The aliens are coming!

My new catch phrase for anyone that buys into all this hullabaloo is "See you in 2013, sucker!"

It's an interesting theory, at the very least, and perhaps we are creating it simply by talking about it. Self fullfilling prophesy and all that.

Some interesting thoughts you have about the...

"If you are an elevated being, emenating love and at piece at some fundamental level, you'll somehow not be affected by tons of cosmic radiation, while the negative people, mad slaves of our deviant culture, will get radiation poisoning and become fertilizer for the good people's crops in the new era of paridise".

This has a familiar ring to the stories I've been hearing. The local version is that all those who are comfortable in their skin will be sucked up into the cosmos to vibrate joyously in glorious harmony for eternity while those who are not will be left to wallow in this dimension.

I dunno.

But they reckon all the planets are going to be aligned for the first time in... is it 500 000 years? 30 000 years? Whatever!

Who knows?
Who cares?

Not I.
This is the centre of the universe.
My tribe is gathered around me.
Behold me.
I AM.

See you in 2013, sucker! That's funny, and it is sad: you'll be among those caught in this dimension working at McDonald's paying taxes while I am coasting through space nebula and visiting celestial communities of star beings, ha ha ha! No, but really, there is something about it, I think, if only in terms of gravity, planets in line, magnetic shift, these are the real life changes that this date may be representing. Who know's if Jesus Alien comes down and creates a modern eden, probably not, right, but I think there may be great changes of some sort, if all prophocies have anything in common it is that there are big changes a'coming; we'll see, I'll wait to sell my youth to the system until I know for sure. See you in 2013, once organic carbon atoms have begun their synthasis with silicon and the new computer humans start to evolve; this is the new science fiction, the kind where it's followers actually believe it to be true

Ha!

Work at McDonalds? Never! The planets could form a circle and start barn dancing and it wouldn't create the force to compel me to work at Maccas. What's even funnier and perhaps more ironic is that I'm "coasting through space nebula and visiting celestial communities of star beings" each day, presently. End times fear mongering is not necessary to jolt a cosmic trigger, though it might work for some and good for them if it does.

Change?

A great change?

That is the only guarantee.

The solitary constant.

Of course there is change a'coming.

Change is occuring at all times.
This is the centre of the universe.
My tribe is gathered around me.
Behold me.
I AM.
