Dear Doreen

Post by stilltrucking » September 1st, 2005, 3:15 pm

sorry about the bold type fonts, did not mean to shout at you, I wasn't angry just stupid.

What I am trying to say is blow up your tv. What the hell did you need to watch that for? Turn on NPR American University radio station. Diane Rehms show. A voice of reason. I am more discremating about what I watch these days. Not a news junkie. I grew up with radio, not TV

My heart bleeds for you, you are the most empathic person I have ever met. You have so much empathy I fear for you sometimes

When I get saturated and too emotional, I have to turn it off. But I feel like I am being irresponsible if I don't get as much information as I can about what is going on there, so I have to keep listening and watching as much as I can.

Thank you for your concern, Jack!

ps- I fear for me sometimes, too. But right now, I'm fearing for the thousands of displaced.

Yesterday, I was feeling guilty because I was mourning my cat's disappearance. Truly. I felt like my emotions were being directed in the wrong place. He's still not back.

They are presenting the public with new information at least every hour. The situation is constantly changing in many respects. They are informing the public about what is happening with the people, what help is on the way, what help is needed, how desperate the people are becoming.

This is NOT at ALL sensationalism!!!!!!! This is an emergency situation of such magnitude as this country has never seen! I'm finding the reporting to be excellent. At LEAST every hour, I hear something I didn't know before, plus I have been listening to officials including the governor, the mayor, and many who are first responders... plus many more, including news analysts.

Nope. Not sensationalism. Reality. Stone cold ugly terrifying reality, but which also includes the spirit of humanity, compassion, and hope.

about winky

I was going to post something but it seemed to weird.

It seems like everytime a cat died in my family something bad happened. Like November 22, 1963 an orange cat, a really great cat, still remember him well
He was cut down in his prime by a taxi cab that morning.

The day rose died November 22 1984, stripped tabby, disappeard.

I still hope winky turns up.

I should put this one on Clay's weirdo post.

Red cross doreen they need money bad.

I've cried so many times about this, how can you not?
It's just so sad, on top of everything else, to see these displaced people being handled by a bunch of asinine elitists.....

I mean, let them loot I say, they need food, they need comfort, the insurance will pay for the losses the owners suffer, let the people take what's sinking anyway....let them grab onto someting! i can't believe that they are even calling it looting!!!!! getting their fucking guns out.... It's going to be trashed anyway! Good grief, the ownership, the possesssiveness, smallness....within such huge losses and suffering.....it's shameful.

This is a clear wake up call, about the poor in our own country! I see clearly how I'd be treated during a disaster...we poor outnumber the fucking elitists by a long shot and yet they treat us like crap....they have no idea what to do. And, I don't think they care much about anything but "looking good" in dealing with this.

If you are not watching and feeling this then I say you are in denial of reality, you must watch this ordeal played out, you must look at it and feel it, know it, for but for the grace of Goddess, it could be you! You must watch out for these thousands of displaced people who have nothing now, and had barely anything before....
they need us to make sure the feds take care of them first and foremost.....
Look and cry and feel it.
Calling it being sucked in is denial big time.....blatently uncollective....
That's what I think anyway....
This is not a car wreck on the road!
Hell, I really wish I could go down there and help out, i wish I had some money to give....but at the very least, I can tune in and be aware.....give a voice.
Mother nature hath spoken......
I plead with us all to listen to her.

Amen, tearfully,
H 8)

((((((hester))))))) hugs & love....

There are two other threads about this in the Culture forum. I can't believe that these people have no water, no food!!! I don't understand why they can't go drop food and water by helecoptor if they can't get in otherwise......

You know? ALL of those people in the SuperDome could die if they don't get them help and soon!!! Already several have died.

They are talking about trying to WALK out of there. It's like Exodus.

Are they doing all they can to help? I can't imagine it.... but maybe they are... this is sooooo horrible. And I agree... I put myself in their situation. I sob. I weep. How can you not? I want to go there to help. I don't know how to help.

Truckin- Yes, I am donating some money to the Red Cross but it seems so minimal. I want to offer my house but it's so far away. Can anybody even get here?

So tell me hester how much do I have to watch. Do you think I should watch it for an hour, six hours, ten hours, stayed glued to the screen night and day. How much is enough?

yeah I got to go to work too. Answering the phones for Red Cross. Going to get paid for it though so it don't make me feel like I am contributing. Going to send as much of my ill gotten gains as I can..

I am heart sick Hester. I did not understand all those irate posts about looters either.

I am listening to Michael Brown, the FEMA director... it is a live FEMA briefing. He is very convincing. He is saying emergency services are doing everything they possibly can. After this is over, I'll see if I can find a transcript of the interview.

by the way, welcome to the Studio, microbe!

Hester
I was the only one talking about auto accidents. please don't pull your punches, hit me with your best shot. I can roll with the punches. If I can do nothing else I can take a punch. You know I need you to give it to me straight when you think I got my head up my ass. No need to make nice. Wisdom is a woman. What a vain dick head I am. :)

I just don't need to see the same thing over and over on local tv, yapping air heads with good hair cuts. Nice suits and smiles, happy to have such a hot story. Break for commercials every five minutes. PBS NPR BBC. All the news I can deal with.

Right on, microbe! And on the back of public toilet doors and wherever else such scrawlings may be found.

I'm kinda detached from the whole hurricane story, have heard people speaking of it, have heard a quick snippet on the news, but I relate to trucking's sentiment about watching "the same thing over and over on local tv, yapping air heads with good hair cuts. Nice suits and smiles, happy to have such a hot story. Break for commercials every five minutes" but I can also identify with what Hester said about listening to mother nature's message.

It's a tough call.
This is the centre of the universe.
My tribe is gathered around me.
Behold me.
I AM.
