What Is Your Favorite Deadly Sin?
This morning I woke up and asked myself which of the Seven Deadly Sins I was going to partake of today. It's Sunday after all.
During the week and especially in business hours, I usually warm up with a little avarice perhaps mixing in a bit of envy and pride and usually ending up with anger which is also known as wrath.
But this is the weekend. Some sloth would be in order I think. Yes, I think I'm due for some sloth. And gluttony is most definitely on the agenda. And lust would be nice.

my fav is lust but the one i'm most likely to commit is kind of a different answer. i commit envy a lot, that and wrath.
my least favorite glutony...the society in paticular, in america and else where is particularly open to glutony, because this society has to make money so they pretty much sell glutony to us everywhere we go.
good question.

Blah!
not a big fan of sloth either...but this weekend, glutonny and sloth are at the top...mainly because i'm sick. i've been treating myself to non-cafeteria food and i haven't really accomplished much in the way of homework.
as far as lust goes...maybe this is just me or maybe its a sign of our times, but really how much lust would there have to be for it to be a really bad thing, seriously whats wrong with a little lust?

i think i know how this poll is going to turn out...but why? why is lust going to be practicly everyones answer.
i think its because the rest have pretty bad reps and lust doesn't have that much of bad connitations.
lust vs. love....i want to hear about that debate. this is probably a younger person thing but, i know you can have love without lust. like my love for, my family/friends...but if lust is long standing isn't that love...you guys probably think thats a stupid thought, but seriously...i want straight definitions here people...might even make it a different subject, though i'm thinking of sleeping.
whats you definition of lust compared to love?

High five for lust people!!!! High five!!!
Shout it out lustfully...
LUST LUST LUST
and then again sloth is pretty damned relaxing...
I love sloth....I'd marry sloth if I wasn't so durned lazy....lazy and lustful!
I am a lustful sloth I guess! Ah well...there are worse things....worse deadly things er sins to be.
Color me slothful and paint me with lust, lust and star dust.
I tried to tick all of them for I am a sinner by nature but was cruelly foiled in my attempts.

Well, first of all, I never was clear about who invented this list. I was writing a short story using this list once... with a character that represented each "sin" but I never finished it.
Here's what I think of the list -
Pride - I think a certain amount of pride is a very good thing! People live their lives and work hard to achieve accomplishments and there is absolutely nothing wrong with having some pride about your achievements. Being proud of your family and friends and how you have created your life is also nothing to be scoffed at. It's good. Not bad. Misplaced pride is another thing. Nationalism is a type of pride which disgusts me, for instance. Being overly proud of yourself, to a point of projecting a huge ego, is also unappealing. I'm very proud of this analysis, by the way. And I deserve to be. I put a lot of time and thought into it and I'm especially proud that my mind is working this morning because it wasn't working all that well last night and I have the right to be proud when my mind works OK. It's a rare thing, for sure! I'm also proud of all of you who are reading this for taking the time to watch my mind in action. It must take a lot of tolerance and patience and I think you should be proud of yourselves for having such patience. To me? You all are lions. One big pride.
Lust - Sexual lust is a fabulous thing! I enjoy it very much, as I know most people do! Don't feel badly that you want me like that. It's OK. Lots of people do! How could you help wanting me like that? It's not your fault, you know! There are other types of lust, too. Some lusts are healthy, some not. It can be dangerous and debilitating when a person lusts after another person's partner and acts on it. Advertising is based on lust. Madison Avenue creates images designed to make a person lust after objects, material things, and oftentimes even ideas. People need to know when lust isn't healthy. I saw a photo of a handsome, well-built young man wearing a name-brand suit in a slick magazine and I just had to have him! I whipped out my credit card and called the 800 number only to find out he wasn't for sale. Phooey. Then, they had the nerve to try to sell me the suit.
Gluttony- It would be easier for me to tell you which of the so-called deadly sins I hate more than the others than the other way around. Gluttony is one of them. I don't know what a "sin" is... meaning I don't believe in such a thing.... This list is about human nature. That's all it is. And gluttony is a part of human nature for some people because they don't know how to stop.... they can't get enough... they want more more more. When I see that the world is currently ruled by gluttony, it angers me and I express my Wrath!
But I believe we all have to admit that we have experienced each and every one of these at one time or another. The other night, I sat up and ate 10-15 chocolate covered pretzels before I went to bed. I couldn't stop! Damn that piph for bringing me such a delightful gift!
Avarice- What IS that? Hmmm.... Oh yeah... it's lust and gluttony mixed up together. It's the lust after material wealth and the gluttony of never being satisfied. I hate this one and this is what I was talking about when I said that the world is run by gluttony. Actually, it's run by avarice. And lust. What a combination, eh? I wish I had another chocolate covered pretzel.
Envy- This is a really stupid one. What's the purpose of being envious? I've never in my life been envious! I know that makes you green with jealousy for me to tell you this, but it's true. I mean, why would I be envious of anybody else? I've got too much pride for that!
Wrath- Dammit!! This one REALLY pisses me off! I get so damn angry when I hear about this! I just want to throw things! And sometimes I do! But I know when to stop. I don't lust after the anger or anything. I'm no glutton for punishment.
Sloth- I'll get to this one later. Never mind. I don't really care about it, to tell you the truth. I'd rather lie around eating chocolate covered pretzels. Got any?

.In the Middle Ages, people were told that if they did not improve their moral character, they would suffer eternal pain in Hell. Each of the Seven Deadly Sins had its own form of punishment:
(1) Pride -You would be tortured on a large stone wheel.
(2) Envy -You would be put in freezing water.
(3) Anger -Your arms and legs would be cut off.
(4) Sloth -You would be thrown into a snake pit.
(5) Gluttony -You would be forced to eat rats, toads and snakes.
(6) Lust -You would be burned alive.
(7) Greed -You but be put into a pot of boiling oil

Kind of sounds like a good reality show. Maybe we could call it The Fear Factor
Mohandas Karamachand Gandhi, one of the most influential figures in modern social and political activism, devised his own list of Seven Deadly Sins. Gandhi considered these traits to be the most spiritually damaging to humanity.
Wealth without Work
Pleasure without Conscience
Science without Humanity
Knowledge without Character
Politics without Principle
Commerce without Morality
Worship without Sacrifice

Never mind....
Picture me...
A flaming mouse soaring tail first into a snake pit.
I can hear the snakes hissing now....
"Mmmmm flaming mouse sheeshkabobs....my fave!!!!"
Ah well....I can't change my stripes now...oopsy...wrong animal! Where does the deadly sin of stoopidity fit in? Hmmmm? Anyone?
