Booster Shot
for release 11-14-05
Washington D.C.

I remember vividly. It was five minutes after eight (Central) on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001 and I was awakened by a phone call from a friend. She worked on the 50th floor of a downtown office building. She said, "They are sending us home because of what is happening." I'm still half asleep. "What is happening?"

She said, "Turn on your TV, Lightning Rod."

I tuned in just in time to see the second jet hit the towers. I watched aghast as the shining spires collapsed in a cloud of dust and death. It was on live television. Then it was re-played for weeks. As a nation and as a world we all felt the horror of this terrible act. It unified our nation in grief even more profoundly than the Pearl Harbor attack. We witnessed the horror of the 9/11 attacks with our own eyes.

It wasn't a hot fifteen minutes after the collapses that I began asking myself questions, the obvious ones at first. Who did this and why? How did they pull it off?

Then other questions began to occur to me. Questions like – Was this spectacle produced by Industrial Light & Magic? It was just too perfect. One plane hitting fifteen minutes after the other and then the collapses that looked like perfectly executed building demolitions. How did they get all of those camera angles in less than twenty minutes? And the most pressing question of all – Who would benefit from such an event?

I immediately knew who would benefit from this disaster. It was the floundering, undefined, unelected Bush administration. When 9/11 happened, the BushCo bunch was wondering how to legitimize a questioned presidency in the face of the 2000 election fiasco. The president, in the first nine months of his reign had mostly been seen jogging and reading books to school children.

Then the jets hit the towers and as we all soon knew, it was a new world. I could just see Dick Cheney, in his undisclosed location, watching the towers crumble and pumping his fist just like Tiger Woods does after sinking a forty foot putt. This was the sinking of the Maine and the Gulf of Tonkin and Pearl Harbor all rolled into one. I'm sure the words of William Randolf Hearst were ringing in his ears, "You provide the pictures, and I'll provide the war."

Not since Pearl Harbor has an American government been handed such a blank check. The history of the past four years has shown how they have cashed in on it. The Patriot Act was crammed down our throats. The neocon agenda was advanced both with repression at home and aggression abroad. They got to have their imperial wars and were able to pad the nests of their cronies, all in the sacred name of the War on Terror. Like Ollie North said, "It was a neat deal."

I'm not a conspiracy kinda guy. I think most things in this world are pretty obvious and evident. I don't usually need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows. But my email box gets stuffed daily with articles from people sending me byzantine conspiracy theories about how the boys at Bushco engineered this whole thing and how they put their Saudi buddies up to helping them out with their political problems so the whole cabal could continue to get richer and more powerful. It's not implausible. I have no proof as to who instigated these acts, but I do know who the beneficiaries of them were. According to Capitol Hill Blue there is a memo floating around Washington suggesting that the boys at BushCo are wishing for another blank check in the form of a new terrorist attack on American soil.

Now we see this administration floundering again. They've spent their fabled political capital. The lock-step support that they enjoyed from their majority in both houses of Congress is eroding. The president, with his approval ratings in the thirties, is perceived as a political liability for those seeking re-election in 2006. America doesn't trust him anymore; nearly two-thirds of voters think he is dishonest. There is a scandal in every closet. The war is going bad. Sounds like time for a bomb to go off in the bathroom at the Super Bowl.

Poet's Eye memo to BushCo:
Double Secret background.

Operation Pop Shock

Step One:

Have a group of celebs gather for an awards ceremony. Call it anything. The National Award for Excellence or The Patriot's Plaque. Get People Magazine's 50 most beautiful faces and the Academy Award nominees and Paris Hilton and Oprah and a few obnoxious comics and Mohammed Ali and some washed up quarterbacks, maybe even the Bush twins. Gather them all in Grauman's Chinese or The Hollywood Bowl or even the Kennedy Center. It would be a big gala and all the networks would be there, maybe even Matt Drudge.

Step Two:

Set off a concussion bomb during the ceremony. The cameras will be rolling. Not a big bomb that will kill too many people, just one with a lot of smoke and noise that will only set some Halston gowns on fire and break a few eardrums. Suggest that you plant the bomb in the section where Warren Beatty and Michael Moore and Barbara Streisand and Arianna Huffington are sitting.

Step Three:

Go on TV and announce that because of fancy intelligence work and with the help of the Dept. of Homeland Security, that the president has prevented this bomb from being a 'dirty bomb.' This was only a 'clean bomb' which proves that he is in control and is protecting America from the forces of evil. Think of it as a Nerf Pearl Harbor.

Step Four:

Sit back and watch the approval ratings go up.

Step Five:

Send check to Lightning Rod Consulting.

Well, now time passed and now it seems
Everybody's having them dreams.
Everybody sees themselves walkin' around with no one else.
Half of the people can be part right all of the time,
Some of the people can be all right part of the time.
But all the people can't be all right all the time
I think Abraham Lincoln said that.
"I'll let you be in my dream if I can be in yours,"
I said that.

He's got 3 years to pull that one off... just in time to declare martial law and the Presidential election will come to a halt. La Familia Bush is a determined group.

LR, funny? Yes.

Hyperbolically funny? Not in the least.

I am one of those left wing, over the top conspiracy theorists, albeit the 9/11 theory is my first venture into that realm.

I’m presently re-reading a short story entitled “The Machine Stops” by E. M. Forster. It was written in 1909.

I re-read “1984” almost immediately after 9/11 (a lot of numbers there, hey?).

The sad conclusion is that Forster knew what was going to happen in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and/or, thus far, in 2005. Orwell knew what was going to happen during those years as well. Sure, Orwell was off by about 20 years, but he was closer than the people who are existing within the confines of 2005. They have no idea of what’s happening in 2005.

I have no idea of how William Henry Harrison died, who killed Lincoln, either Kennedy or MLK. I haven’t looked that closely into those murders. Granted, the years following all of those events, from Polk using the death of one single American soldier in Mexico to justify a self serving, greedy land grab to Johnson all but giving the South a blank check to reinstate the slavery that Lincoln, as an afterthought, signed out of the law, to FDR communicating with the Japanese ambassador to the US while Pearl Harbor burned to Johnson lying about an attack on one of our ships in The Gulf of Tonkin and Nixon making a stab at using nuclear weaponry in Cambodia, to Carter promising to protect the tyrannical Shah of Iran to Reagan arming both Iran and Iraq so that extreme right wing terrorists could carry out campaigns against Nicaraguan citizens, women, children, whatever floated their boat to George H. W. Bush portraying himself and his administration as the savior of the dominant Kuwaiti powerhouse and beacon of philanthropic democracy to ensure that Americans could rally ‘round his effort to maintain America’s colonial hold on natural resources in the Middle East to Clinton periodically murdering citizens in Bosnia, accomplishing the delivery of Milosevic to a World Court which The Regime in power now, using maybe the dumbest person to ever pretend to be the president of the United Flocks of America as a front man, doesn’t recognize. But, except for the last and most catastrophic “coincidence” of all of these, I haven’t given much thought to the others as conspiracy theories.

What you so cleverly point out, LR, is not a conspiracy as such. I think that the word “clandestine” has to be used in order for a conspiracy to exist. There’s nothing clandestine about what The Regime is doing and, as it’s learned, it doesn’t have to be clandestine for be successful. As long as a “Goldstein” is created, it works just right.

One of the points I try to make over and over again is that there can be no better defense for a criminal than the defense that says, “We mustn’t accuse him because it’s disrespectful to do so.”

For most suspects, it’s innocent until proven guilty. And where to these suspects reside while they’re “innocent” until proven guilty? They reside in jail. I know that there’s something wrong with putting someone who’s assumed to be innocent under the law in jail, don’t you?

This is especially true in light of the fact that guilt can’t be proven against members of The Regime because they have the power to decide such things. What a racket. Not innocent until proven guilty, but not even chargeable. Why? Because they say so, that’s why.

How is it that Orwell, Forster, Huxley, etc. could tell us back then that what is happening today would happen while we, living today, won’t dare believe it.

People say, “You make all of these accusations, Michael, but you don’t prove them.”

They’re right. I, alone, don’t prove them. I simply read the “circumstantial” evidence and hear the rebuttals. I tell people to read these arguments and rebuttals, but they say they don’t have time. So they read what I write, I don’t get every single fact correct and they use that shortcoming as definitive proof that the information I pass on to them must be born of left wing whacko conspiracy theories.

Here’s the bottom line, LR, and I’ll try to let it go after this.

There are a great number of people who believe that The Regime was either complicit in what happened on September 11, 2001 or allowed it to happen.

You bring up the fact of who gained from this treasonous act. Deep Throat told Bernstein to follow the money. You’ve done so in your essay, LR and we all know where it leads.

The “circumstantial” evidence, the number of people who want answers and who believe that not every piece of “circumstantial” evidence is meaningless merely because it’s “circumstantial” evidence and, quite frankly, because of the seriousness of the accusations, should be enough to convene an investigation, free of any ties to any political agenda. That’s all. Just an impartial investigation using the anomalies surrounding the event.

If The Regime is acquitted, so be it. OJ was acquitted and I have believed to this day that he was guilty.

But if a party is absolutely right about its innocence, what harm is there in facing such an investigation under oath.

George W. Bush and Dick Cheney shouldn’t marginalize so many of the citizens for whom they work by calling them “crazy conspiracy theorists” and refusing to prove themselves innocent under oath in a court of law.

By using indignation in not responding to the anomalies, they basically claim to be above the law.

Finally, one of the gains made by The Regime was to get reality TV watching, extreme boxing watching, 3 gallon to the mile vehicle driving, obnoxious Americans to hate whatever “Goldstein” that they want them to hate at any given time.

9/11 happens and we’re told to hate Osama bin Goldstein. By slight of hand and even the mangling of the English language, the language that those very same Americans insist that the rest of the world speak, Goldstein is morphed from Osama bin to Saddam Goldstein and everyone hates him and thinks his demise was the appropriate response to The Regime’s murder of 3,000 people on September 11, 2001.

To friendship,
Michael

Sorry my original post was deleted here. It was supposed to have been an accident. But I am pretty sure it was all an attack on my brilliant well reasoned opinions. But then everybody elses lame posts had to be deleted too just to cover up the fact that the crime was aimed at me.
Under the spreading chestnut tree, I sold you and you sold me.
Best of luck Michael. I think it is counter productive. I think it distracts from what happened in 2002. But if you are having fun go for it.

jack,

I'm laughing over here because I know that you are joking.

we had a catastrophe on S8 yesterday. We at least got it back running. But as you can see, we are still having trouble with the top image. (just think of it a Studio Eight--The White Album) All of yesterday's posts were deleted because we had to start from a back-up.

Hopefully we will get this fixed today.

Then we can continue persecuting you as usual.

ten four clay, scares the hell out of me, the older I get the more I see crazy mike's sick sense of humor in me.

dem got dam slippery silicon documents. One of these days I am going to start saving these spontaneous scribblings of mine to the hard drive.

It is always such a relief to me when stuff of mine disapears. A feeling of good riddance.

Pull my daisy, I think that is from the that zen movie about Boulder colorado and the school of disembodied poets or something, I have never seen the movie.

If you got time to listen to the radio there is an iggy pop interview on WAMFU, Fresh Air Show. Pretty interesting, where was I in 1969?
