I am not political

Post by mnaz » January 31st, 2006, 8:30 pm

No dire demagogery,
Nor dark of Draconian,
Nor dour, drunken doggerel,
O dogged dogs of dogma...
I am not political.

No left-right-left,
Nor rubber-stamp Ron,
Nor lock-step Larry,
O hup, two three...
I am not political.

No buzz word bluster,
Nor ditto-daze delusion,
Nor foisted fil-o-so-phy,
O smokescreen of smirk...
I am not political.

No mortgaged mandate,
Nor many mangled manners,
Nor monopoly of morality,
O murder of moderate...
I am not political.

hehe... great piece!
I love the whimsically dancing alliteration! Really good stuff!
I just read it aloud!

(which reminds me I still need to send you that piece we recorded on cd.. will do that this week..)

Minor critique and I usually don't offer any critiques unless in a forum especially set aside for that but in this case, I think the meter would work better if you said "I am not political" rather than making a contraction out of it. It's stronger that way. And I also think starting the piece with that line might work, too (but just using it as the title works ok.. )

i thought there was nothing stronger than a good contraction, excuze me.

just goes to show you there ain't no absolutes!

purely perfidious, no doubt, and it's true, too

reminds me all of a sudden of.....

the revolution will not be televised"

instead of "the revolution won't be televised,"

someday we shall overcome
we'll overcome someday oy vey!

Nor monopoly of morality,
it was all great but that line jumped out at me.

thanx jimbo, Arcadia, Soozen, Artguy, & truckin'....

I wrote this one after a particularly wearisome "debate" with a particularly ballistic sort of left-right-left-right Hannity disciple. (Or perhaps he was among Rush's minions).

hehe..... Soozen....

Yes..... I am a big liar sometimes, aren't I?

I remain disturbed that these lines still have some traction. Maybe more now than ever. I kind of hoped this kind of stuff would be obsolete by now. Dream on.
