Spam help

Post by singlemalt » February 10th, 2006, 2:40 pm

every day i get about eight pieces of spam. they are all about fake watches or viagra. don't know what the two have in common, but there you go.

so every day i go into outlook and hit "block sender" so the message doesn't come back. but, of course,"they" use different email addresses every time so i keep getting the spam.

i use norton antivirus and do adaware scans often, but to no avail.

anyone have this problem? do i have to give in and change my email address?

thanks.

i use gmail and it usually filters spam pretty well, altho in the past few months, MUCH more spam has been getting thru to my inbox.

generally, any time you use outlook or any other microsoft app, you're going to be fucked either way.

you can block words that appear in the message or subject, or there are also ways to block all randomly generated email addresses. i'm not sure exactly how to do that last one, but if you search for it on google, you should find ways.

spammers all need to die right now.
and knowing i'm so eager to fight cant make letting me in any easier.

Howdy SM...

I use hotmail which has a great spam/junk blocker. The only thing I need to remember to do is occasionally check my junk mail box to make sure what is in it. That box is emptied every five days so I have the time to check and filter.

Unless you are on my contact list or you have a seemingly legit email addy....you can't get in. (Nothing gets in unless I want it to.)

Hotmail is free and I love it!

Another way to do it is to have a second e-mail adress that you use everytime you have to broadcast your e-mail on the net, and a personal e-mail for those who you like and aren't trying to sell you viagra.
It's like having a spambox, except that it takes a whole e-mail account.

Try any type of 3rd party software to filter your spam. (Spam Bully is pretty good)

Hey, Singlemalt. I didn't get much spam for the longest time, and when I did it was always relegated to my junk mail folder. Now, for some reason, I am being inundated, and not just in my junk mail but also in my regular inbox. I don't know what gives. I'll bet Bush is behind it!!! Anyway, did you know that Spam is a huge favorite national dish in Hawaii? Strange but true. I always hated the stuff, even when my mother fried it and melted cheese on it in a feeble attempt to disguise its disgustingness. If 'chicken tenders' at KFC are made of beaks and cheeks I shudder to think what comprises spam!

Take care,

lenny
