An old christian woman once told me I was wise beyond my years.
I think she told me a falsehood.
(Isn't there a commandment that says Tho shalt not bare false witness.)
Perhaps she really did think me wise.
(Maybe it's a falsehood against thy neighbor, not ones face.)
Several others have said the same thing. Guess I should believe them.
But if I am so wise then what has possessed me to make the choices I have made; they were not wise.
And what of strength. Cannot count the times I have fallen apart--emotionally and mentally---
(And suicide seemed the only perfect out)
It takes strength to pull that trigger.
(Too permanent I suppose)
Perhaps not permanent enough
(There are those still left you know.)
Yeah strength and wisdom
Gained with age
But what happens
When the mind grows
Too old
To forget.

I like. Perhaps it's when we're too old to forget what's going on that we can actually recall the truth of what's happening in the world and finally stop bearing false witness. As long as we know how to drift away from it all, who knows what's true or false?
