Yep.
A bonafide musical whore.
I did my first solo gig this afternoon at a private party, using a karioke machine. I can't believe it myself.

I vowed I'd never do that when karioke machines started popping up, but 50 bucks for 40 minutes of singing, was too hard to pass up!
And, about 5 people took my number....said they have christmas parties coming up and they want to book me! Shucks, I even had fun. Right there in little old Ilwaco Washington.

I was thinking, that to make this "new" venture complete, perhaps I should construct some jewelry adornments to wear while performing. I of course, would make them using birth control pills for gems, and condoms for pendants. Oooh, imagine, 5 star condom pendants! Scareweee!
Heh heh heh.

Forgive me Charlie Parker, Mr. Coltrane, Ms. Holiday, Miss Vaughan, Carmen M, etc, for I have sinned.
Tell me I won't go to hell......
sigh
H
(anything to make a buck....) 8)

Before there was karioke
(oh, I know it's hard to believe that there was a time before karioke)
I used to record my own bed tracks and then play horns and sing live.

when we were in Virginia Beach this summer there were hundreds of musicians up and down the main drag, playing on the sidewalk. I talked to the guy standing on one corner with his alto sax strapped around his neck and his laptop sitting on one of one of the large speakers that he had. He was playing Trane and Bird and Duke tracks with his live horn.

yer right

anything for a buck
that's not being a whore
that's just good business
outsource the sidemen to Japan

Clay, my dad and I were just talking here in the computer room about the website, I was giving him the tour of studio eight and what apartment I was going to live in under the Open Mic board when I received a notification of your reply.

My dad sends a warm hello to you and Doreen and hope you are well.

As my father says: "see you later, alligator!"

*well im not leaving the site but he's leaving the room

maybe we can combine both of our pictures and create a new entity- we can name him/her/it Clucy. How does that sound? And thank you, I'm blushing right now.
