I read Eros and Civilization and One Dimensional Man a long time ago. I hardly remember it and probably did not understand much of it.
I been googling around and I found this bit
I was one sick puppy in the sixties. Repressed hostility towards women. I was not wearing a flower in my hair, I was not a flower love child. So this is all new to me. When I think of Marcuse I think of a little print of a Madona and Child with the inscription "I was born an innocent and trusting baby" George Jackson Soledad Brother.
Many young people in the 1960s adopted Marcuse-like sexual politics as the basis for the counter-culture's radical transformation of values. By exploring drugs, music and sex, they sought to experience what Marcuse described as an "erotic sense of reality."

We are certainly good creators and multipliers, we are fruitful.
When sex is advertised as much as it is in our american culture, when girls are objectified I get an inkling of what he meant by de-eroticized sex.
Life Against Death is probably the most interesting book I have read on civilization and repression and sublimation.
Husserl is probably the philosopher that is shaping my world view these days.
What difference does it make if it is frustrated sex or just sex. It is sublimated.
I had to watch the results carefuly when I googled erotic. I dam sure don't need no artificialy inflicted sexual stimulation. I may be old and in the way but still an excitable boy (warren zevon song excitable boy?)
I can only speak of my own sexual frustration. It is a struggle to deal with. Reminds me of Brave New World. Not sure if I get the concept of de-erotic

I always liked the title of the song but I never read the lyrics till now

Well, he went down to dinner in his Sunday best
Excitable boy, they all said
And he rubbed the pot roast all over his chest
Excitable boy, they all said
Well, he's just an excitable boy
He took in the four a.m. show at the Clark
Excitable boy, they all said
And he bit the usherette's leg in the dark
Excitable boy, they all said
Well, he's just an excitable boy
He took little Suzie to the Junior Prom
Excitable boy, they all said
And he raped her and killed her, then he took her home
Excitable boy, they all said
Well, he's just an excitable boy
After ten long years they let him out of the home
Excitable boy, they all said
And he dug up her grave and built a cage with her bones
Excitable boy, they all said
Well, he's just an excitable boy
