Lets discuss the 'Celestine Prophecy' (shall we?)

I finished the Celestine Prophecy and it's sequel, The Tenth Insight
both books in a matter of days. I cannot fully express what they've made me feel. I think James Redfield has some pretty good ideas. I like how he talks about how we are all capable of ascending to a spiritual realm like Jesus did. And in fact that Jesus was just the first to do so and wasnt truly the "son of god". I also enjoy how he rips on the churchs control of belief and the bible, I'd qoute a section, but I just returned it to the librarian. I'm wondering what you cats thought of this adventure story.......

yeah, i read it quite a few years ago. Right after that, i started learning Reiki and tuning into the universal energy.

Jesus wasn't the first ascended master - there have been such people throughout time - men and women. The old testament throws out a few such names - Moses for example. Then there was Buddha, Mohammed, and the rishi of hinduism.

The Celestine was a great book for me at the time - easy to read and resonant with that part of me that longs to hear the 'be here now' kind of writing.

Once that door is opened, it never shuts.

I found it started off well but did not really deliver. It felt to me like the author never left the perimeter to reach the center. Still, it was entertaining and probably a good start for many. I never read the second book. And as judih pointed out, there have been many who have made the ascension. Not to diminish him in any way, but Jesus was only one. The message of all those that have ascended is not that they have done so, but that we can (and eventually will) also. The ancient (and current) rishis understood completely the Bible's urging: 'Be still and know that I am God.' When all sensory stimulii has been stilled the Truth is clearly discerned - not attained, but remembered. 'And all these things shall be brought to your remembrance.' - Bible. The Bible, Koran, Gita, Torah, etc. are all quite esoteric but most read only the words. Higher truths cannot be comprehended with the mind, but are easily apprehended with the heart. (Anahatta chakra, center of feeling and intuition - that 'still soft voice within' - in man). When the hunger becomes unbearable the food appears on the table. Dabbling in truth is like having the munchies. It's not real hunger. Only real hunger brings real appeasement.

i read it quite a while ago, and loved it - even though i found the story itself to be rather simplistic, the message clearly spoke to me.

yeah, the story wasn't what I loved either. It was the idea of the ascention. Since finishing the book, I find myself in the woods more often. I truly understand how beauty can be multiplied, and color enhanced when I just sit still and just be. Listening to the wind, the birds, the whole existence of the natural world is truly a valid way of building ones energy. I never actually stopped and listened before........
