"my husband abuses me" - internet plea
Very strange.
I was playing Scrabble on the internet and my opponent was ahead. It was her turn. And she blew the damn horn at me. This is a horn that blares so loud it knocks me outa my chair! Scared the shit outa me!
Usually it's only kids that blow that horn and they do it because they can and they think it's funny or someone wants to tell you to play faster. It's a very rude horn.
So, I asked her why she was blowing the horn at me. It was her turn, I said, and it hurt my ears.
"My husband abuses me. He hit me last night and I couldn't go to work today," she answered.
"Oh, sorry to hear that, " I said. "So, that makes you blow a horn in your Scrabble opponent's ear?"
"I don't have anybody to talk to," she answered.
I told her that I wasn't a counselor and she wasn't going to find a counselor on the internet Scrabble site. I told her to leave the house and go to a woman's shelter and to call the police.
"I can't. Three kids. School. I can't. It's not that easy," she said.
Then she quit the game after telling me she was too upset to play any more.
Why do people use the internet like that? I mean, do they really think they're going to get good advice from strangers on the internet? Not that I didn't give her good advice or anything, but still. It seems ridiculous to me.
What is it about the internet that makes people spill their life dramas to perfect strangers?
I just don't get it.
I feel sorry for any woman who's in a position to be abused by a partner but I really wanted to play Scrabble, not be put in a position of being a counselor.
Strange media, this.

maybe she was just trying to carry on some normalcy to her day
maybe she decided to lose herself in a scrabble game
carry on, carry on, as best she could
and the frustration of her situation
just boiled to the fore
and out it blurted
allover it blurted
and you were just there
just there
not appropriate
never appropriate
when you lose your control
she didn't intend
I doubt she expected any advice
it just needed
badly needed
to come out

she's prolly a troll. she's prolly a 13 yr old boy with dork issues.
either that, or her husband smacks her around for spending too much time blowing her fucking computer horn at him.
ha ha. ahem.

oh firsty
maybe it is all true
I have not done my homework so I don't know if these number are correct, one woman every nine seconds and from 1 to 4 million every year. Not sure if that checks out. I have not done the math.
In the United States:
Every 9 seconds a woman is beaten.
Every 3 minutes a woman is raped.
Every day 4 children will die as a result of abuse.
Only 1 out of every 10 victims of domestic violence report the incident.
Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44.
Domestic violence is the number-one cause of emergency room visits by women.
Between 1 million and 4 million women are abused by current or former husbands or boyfriends each year.
More than 3 million children witness acts of domestic violence every year.
The Bureau of National Affairs estimates that domestic violence costs American businesses $3 billion to $5 billion each year in absenteeism, lower productivity, higher turnover, and health care and safety costs.
In one study, 74% of employed abused women were harassed at work by their abuser over the phone or in person - causing 56% of them to be late for work at least five times a month, 28% to leave early at least five days a month, and 54% to miss at least three full days of work a month. http://www.nostatusquo.com/ACLU/dworkin ... tIVG1.html

i bet that people lie at a higher rate than people are raped. i bet every ONE second, a person in the world lies.

it includes everyone, and, yeah, i was prolly being generous about that. i bet every second, a million different people are lying. lying is definitely a bigger problem than domestic abuse. so i assume that most people claiming domestic abuse are lying. especially over the internet, where hardly anyone gets hit and most people are lying.
statistics r fun.
