Question

Post by lenny » April 20th, 2006, 7:37 pm

Is there a specific forum here where one can post and receive comments on their work and offer comments on other's work? I feel like I'm lost in the jungle here right now! ls. I like giving and receiving input. I think that's how we grow, to an extent, as poets. Poetry is, like the human race itself, ever evolving, morphing, interacting. Interacting. Interacting. Interacting. Have I mentioned interacting?

Peace,

lenny

Hi Lenny!

There are lots of writing boards here all for the purpose of posting writing and getting feedback.

All are in the CREATIVE EXPRESSION catagory above.
http://studioeight.tv/phpbb/index.php?c=3

Creative Writing is for posting your poetry or prose and getting feedback.

Haiku is for posting your haiku and getting feedback.

Snippets is for posting your non-fiction memories and getting feedback.

Hmm... What else? Lesse.

Writing Challenges is for posting writing challenges... stories, poetry, any genre... and participating in the challenges plus getting feedback.

Interpretation is for posting poetry or any other pieces of writing and having others give feedback in the form of interpretations of what the piece meant to them.

Hope this helps!

___________

(I was hoping it was pretty clear but I guess not, so if you have any input about how to better describe these forums, I'd appreciate it! I know you were confused a little about the Jams and GO forums, both of which are for spontaneous writing, not necessarily feedback, just getting inspired by other writers and writing a poem or piece of prose spontaneously in response)

PS - I realize we do have a lot of forums here and it can be a little daunting at first. But just pull up a chair and spend some time and it should be pretty clear after a short while. The Creative Expressions forums are for creative expressions and the Discussions forums are for discussions. LOL! .. heh... oh man, I can't believe I said that.

doreen, you just reminded me that i begin teaching again - special ed english as a foreign language.

For me to say: 'discussion forums' are for discussion would be to go up a level. Yikes, how am i going to give up my wonderful long walks mid-day, how am i going to remember not to give my everything to my students. Vacations are horrible inventions - they remind me that life is for living. dreadful....

(just associating here)

ha! ... going up a level... heh

I always wondered about this english as a second language thing. I know someone who teaches spanish speaking people english as a second language and she doesn't speak a word of spanish. Never understood that. How do they do that if they don't know the other language?

My niece is in Japan. She's 20 or 21 or something like that. This is part of her college career. She'll be there for 2 years. She's teaching Japanese kids to speak English and she doesn't speak Japanese. How does that work? *confused*

Vacations are horrible inventions.. yeah.. I'll go along with that. You take time off and go back to way more work to catch up.

When I talked with my doctor today he said every time he hears on the news that the American worker's productivity is up, he gets angry because what he hears in that statement is that people are working longer hours for essentially less pay. He said he's looking forward to hearing that productivity is down. It would make his job easier, he said. ;)

Well, I hope you enjoyed your vacation even though it's over.

Hang in there.. Life is definitely for living!

Let's join the living, shall we? :)

I could use a dance partner.
