Time Mural

Post by lenny » April 27th, 2006, 8:01 am

The mural stretches out, so grand,
a painting done of time.
Standing close in front of it
we view the present clime.

When to the left and back we look
from where we have just viewed,
the past it all appears to us,
'though it did not conclude.

Now to the right, direct your gaze
on further up the wall,
waiting next there to be viewed,
the future it is called.

But stand far back and see the whole
be still and see just how
this present, past and future art
is really all the NOW.

The past
is a present from the future
always growing never stopping
waiting for no one

judih - Yeah, that would be great! Lenny was in our last Cabaradio Show and performed this piece and I have had the video tape of the show converted to DVD format with hopes of making clips of many of the performances to share on the web. Unfortunately, the format they gave me doesn't allow me to do that. I guess they got me 'cause I'm going to have to take it back to them and pay them more $ to create clips for me in a format I can use on the web. Sighhh.... It's been a long time ... still trying. ;)

Are your videos on your PC. If so go to Photobucket and download them there.

No, SD. We had a video tape. I took it to a conversion place and they gave me a DVD. I can't get clips off the DVD using the software I have because, apparently, they do this on purpose and save it in a format you can't access electronically. All I can do is watch the DVD. When I discovered that I couldn't get clips from it using i-Movie, I took it back to them and told them and they said I'd have to make an appointment with them to tell them which parts of the DVD I wanted to make into clips and they'd do it for me. In other words, they purposely don't give you a format you can use on your computer until you pay them more $. I've thought about looking for another source to convert the entire DVD to a format which I can cut clips from but I haven't done that yet.

Once I get clips, I'll put them on the S8 server.

guess like anything, it's a racket!

at least you've got the DVD. Unburnable? yes, i guess that's what you're saying.

Doesn't matter - we'll party round the DVD when we all gather for a nostalgia party. By then, wireman will be wired up and we'll have to roll him on stage to jam. L-rod will have to be handed his cigarettes cause his eye-hand coordination will be somewhat inaccurate, and you doreen will be dancing in purple satin toe shoes encouraging us to get up and do the walker/cane boogey.

LOL!!!

Yeah... you crack me up, judih! ;)

The DVD only seems to play on my DVD player on the TV, not my DVD player on the computer so even though I've got a DVD burner, I can't even copy them. A racket? I'll say.

I'll figure it out one day but you may be right.. it might be the day you describe. :D

I gave Mark the video of the interviews with the visual artists so he could get it copied onto DVD. Maybe he had better luck than me. Haven't asked him about it yet.

For our next shows at the Capital Fringe Festival, I'm going to buy a digital video recorder and put it in the hands of a competent person who has volunteered.... my sister. So, I know we'll get clips from that!

Wow, Doreen, if there is any way you can get a copy of that made for me I would be more than happy to pay for it - and you for your trouble. I have wanted to see that for so long now. Is it just Time Mural or all three I recited on it? My kids want to see it too. ls. MY daddy is a poet...daddy is a poet....nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah! lol.

Take care and thanks if you can do anything,

Be well,

lenny

So what are you doing there? I just heard about it from some friends back home. And since I'll finally be back in metro DC, I'd love to come down and check the shows out!

Hey joel! That would be great!

We're doing two 1-1/2 hour shows for the festival at the Warehouse Theater - http://warehousetheater.com/

One is on Sat. July 29th at 4:15pm and the second is on Sun. July 30th at 8pm.

Cabaradio is like a revue/variety show. We have musicians flying in from Texas to perform as the Cabaradio Band, the Jane Franklin Dance troupe - http://www.janefranklin.com/ - spoken word poets including Chris Chandler - http://www.chrischandler.org/ - and a little bit of comedy, too. It's going to be fun!

Mark your calendar, OK? I'd love to meet you!

We're hoping to set up an open mic opportunity, too! It's all in the planning stage at this point, but that's a goal of ours!

And Lenny??? Are you going to be around?

Send me your regular mail address and I'll go get a copy of the DVD from the show at the TV station and send it to you, OK?

Yes! I'm going to be around and would love to attend, reciting or not. Last time I was with you guys I had a ball! Next to last time, actually. Last time was when you guys came to my house. I was referring to the Cabaradio Show. I enjoyed it immensely. Not that I didn't enjoy (most of) that night at my house too! lol. I will pm you my address as I was advised it might not be well to post it up here in the general public's eye, which I hadn't thought of.

Be well, girl,

lenny
