New watercolor journal

Post by Doreen Peri » May 27th, 2006, 7:47 pm

I bought a watercolor journal. It's small, only 7" x 10". There are only 12 sheets of watercolor paper in the journal and it's spiral bound with a black leather-like cover. Between the sheets are blank sheets of plain paper. I think I'm going to add hand-written poems to the regular sheets.

So, this is my first one...

Watercolor w/ pen & ink

"Pink peonies in a blue vase" - clever title, huh? lol

Dear Doreen: (posted at midnight!)

Can there be anything more glorious than watching a sketchbook ( or journal) fill up? Some of the shelves of my studio are filled with neatly ( my wife did it) lined-up sketchbooks and illustrated journals. All are fragmentary, like my life and work.

Some are thirty-five years old. In their pages, it's really shocking to see that wild young man who used to run beside me, drinking, wenching and raising Hades.

So here's to you-- and your lovely pinkness on your sacred paper. There's nothing as close to you except your skin-- cheek-to-cheek with your illustrated journal.

Pretty flowers, by the way.

Your friend,

Zlatko

Zlatko - you are a dear friend! Thank you so much for your support and comments.... I would love to see your journals/sketchbooks.... Your wife is a doll for organizing them like that for you! "There's nothing as close to you except your skin"... god I love that! :)

Dave - Do they have art museums for amatuers like me? Gimme their phone number, could ya? lol... thanks for your encouragement, Dave! :)

~K - It's the vase that had me hypnotized trying to paint the darn thing... Thank you! :)

Here's page 2.. Ok don't laugh, alright? I can't draw a straight line.

This one's called "Two Chairs, A Glass Table, Watercolor Brushes and a Ladder to the Sunset" (hahaha... another clever title.. I guess I figure I better tell people what it is in case they can't see it.. heh.. i crack myself up)

Dave.... do you do promotional marketing work? lol.. awww geez, Dave, you're too sweeeeeeeet.... I'm just a hack! ;) but I do very much enjoy your applause and if I said anything differently than that, I'd be lying so thank you so much for boosting my ego 'cause I look at these things and think ... man, I sure have a lotta nerve posting this stuff! lol :)

Jimbo - what more could I ask for but your kind comments which compose me and make me feel like maybe I should keep trying this stuff? Thank you, my friend. :) You've colored my evening brightly!
