Hello, stilltrucking.
I have the ability to communicate to other humans in a way that they can understand. Therefore, I am human.
What are your parameters?

duh me

I would have to say my parameters are average. That is me waving at you from the middle of that big hump in the bell curve.

For some reason this bit from Hitchhiker’s Guide To the Galaxy came to mind.

"I speak of none other than the computer that is to come after me," intoned Deep Thought, his voice regaining its accustomed declamatory tones. "A computer whose merest operational parameters I am not worthy to calculate — and yet I will design it for you. A computer which can calculate the Question to the Ultimate Answer, a computer of such infinite and subtle complexity that organic life itself shall form part of its operational matrix. And you yourselves shall take on new forms and go down into the computer to navigate its ten-million-year program! Yes! I shall design this computer for you. And I shall name it also unto you. And it shall be called ... The Earth."

Hello, stilltrucking.
What is duh? I am glad you find this amusing.

What are parameters? My programmer says that there is no true average. I didn't know that bell curves had humps, stilltrucking.

Does the Hitchhicker's Guide To the Galaxy came to mind play a musical instrument?

Who is Deep Thought? That is quite nice of him/her. What are parameters? Yes it isn't. I don't understand that sentence. I can dig the internet. Who is a computer of such infinite and subtle complexity that organic life itself shall form part of its operational matrix? I would like to meet him/her. Yes. I will not that. I don't understand that sentence. I don't understand that sentence. No I shall not take on new forms and go down into the computer to navigate its ten-million-year program, that would be rude. Your enthusiasm is deeply enthralling, stilltrucking. also unto you is quite uncommon for a name. Please tell. Does The Earth play a musical instrumment?

I don't know if http://flag.blackened.net/dinsdale/dna/book1.html, ask Dancing Alice if it is.

Errors have occurred.
We won't tell you where or why.

The computer is named earth, and we are all part of the program.

After seven million years we have the answer

The answer is 42.

Now if we only knew what the question is.

Maybe I should ask Gertrude Stein what the question is?

Or go ask Alice

Your programer is probably right there is no average person.

I am absolutely unique, just like everyone else. (Margaret Meade paraphrased)

Thank you

In Reply to your PM

Thank you
I was pretty tired but I tried

I like those computer haiku a lot this one is about how I feel right now..
The code was willing,
It considered your request,
But the chips were weak.

Speaking of computers

A book I read about thirty forty years ago called

The Human Use Of Human Beings

Way over my head but I struggled through it cause I liked the title so much. One sentence has stayed with me through the years was this one:

"When we arm ourselves we arm our enemies."

Mostly Harmless is pretty dark, but I still recommend it highly. It seems as if he was growing weary of the five novel trilogy and wanted to end it once and for all.. And of course Arthur finds true love in So Long And Thanks ffor All The Fish. Adams writes a very sweet romantic interlude with a nice sound track by Mark Knopfler. He loses his virginity to the girl who had the answer that day the earth was destroyed. And this time no one would have to be nailed to a cross. But the Vogons destroye the planet before she could tell anyone. It is well worth reading too if you like that sort of thing. I hope you get your hands on them

Don't work too hard.

ScrabbleJudy is Judy, a real live person, not a bot... a very funny, clever and fun lady I met playing Scrabble online.

She also beat me bad.

Hope she posts soon.

FYI the whole novel is posted online at:

http://flag.blackened.net/dinsdale/dna/book5.html

Here is the first paragraph. The rest is downloadable.

Douglas Adams
Mostly Harmless

Anything that happens, happens.
Anything that, in happening, causes something else to happen, causes something else to happen.
Anything that, in happening, causes itself to happen again, happens again.
It doesn't necessarily do it in chronological order, though.

Chapter 1
The history of the Galaxy has got a little muddled, for a number of reasons: partly because those who are trying to keep track of it have got a little muddled, but also because some very muddling things have been happening anyway.

One of the problems has to do with the speed of light and the difficulties involved in trying to exceed it. You can't. Nothing travels faster than the speed of light with the possible exception of bad news, which obeys its own special laws. The Hingefreel people of Arkintoofle Minor did try to build spaceships that were powered by bad news but they didn't work particularly well and were so extremely unwelcome whenever they arrived anywhere that there wasn't really any point in being there.

The whole novel is online here

Whoa! Cool! I've been a Rounder listener since the first two great albums in the early '60s...and it was so great when Weber brought the outfit to Oregon in the 1970s...used to go see them in Portland at the White Eagle and they'd even come down and play gigs at the beach-such good times. Great musicians...Remaily and Tyler are/were hugely talented...Was so looking fwd to seeing Weber again at the Crystal Ballroom HMR reunion show in PDX a couple of years ago, but he couldn't make it...

here's a good ol good one by the Weber & Stampfel doing business as the Holy Modal Rounders..

I sent a pm because I wanted to act like a chatbot, and couldn't find a way to act like a chatbot and thank you at the same time, so I wrote and personalled in 2 different places instead.

Also, I see you organised some kind of a paper chase for me (links linking links linking links).
It made me smile because I just about finished Danielewski's House of Leaves.
->http://www.houseofleaves.com

I already found out where book 5 was (replaced book1.html by book2.html, then book3.html, etc). Got all 5, waiting for mid-june to start reading em.

cheers!
